A squib and a misfire (tap and rack) sound completely different. Click vs pop. But yes, a tap and rack on a squib would likely be not pretty.
Completely depends on the gun. And a primer-only detonation won’t even trigger the sound suppression in your ear protection device. I have had a couple and could not tell the difference in sound from a squib and a dead primer.
