Hackers Find Security Flaws in Some Voting Machines
NBC News ^ | Nov. 7, 2016 | Jennifer Schlesinger, CNBC

Security researchers have found vulnerabilities with the machines some Americans will use to vote.

The news comes in a hotly contested election cycle where hacked emails are being deployed furiously in an attempt to sway public opinion. Meanwhile, hackers have already tried to breach election systems in more than 20 states, according to the Department of Homeland Security. According to experts, the people doing the hacking may not have to try hard.

"The machines themselves physically have been shown to be very vulnerable," Cris Thomas, a strategist for Tenable Network Security, a Maryland based cybersecurity company, told CNBC's "On the Money" recently. In a related development, some machines are using outdated technology.

"The fact is we've been voting on old technology, old Windows 2000 based operating systems… The voting machines themselves are archaic, having been around for 10-15 years," said Congressman Hank Johnson, a Georgia Democrat who has sponsored legislation on the issue.

Researchers at cybersecurity company, Symantec, tracked down voting machines used in the last election, and found plenty of security flaws.

Not surprising.

Looks quite possible to change votes electronically without traceability.

But, but, but didn’t the media make a big deal of demanding that Trump immediately and without question accept the election results as valid?

What kind of double game is the media playing here? On the one hand, it dismisses any questioning of election results as conspiracy theory mongering. But on the other hand, they publish an article like this.

Even though Putin has been treating Hillary like a dimestore hooker ever since that stupid reset button, I could see him rooting for Trump from the standpoint of the disruption it would cause to global order. We hate it because it’s destroying our country. He hates it because it keeps the globalist power brokers united and aligned against his expansionist ambitions.

That said, I’ve been giving it some thought, and in light of all the election rigging shenanigans from the left, if Putin can hack our election machines and ensure a Trump victory, I’ll take it. I’m tired of this rigged system always favoring the party that started this cold war. You don’t see Obama marshalling all the necessary resources into making sure there’s no ballot stuffing going on in Philly, do you? Romney didn’t collect a single vote in 59 Philly wards of something like 11,000 voters - a statistical impossibility. F’em.

I took a paid “survey” that was nothing more than a 10 minute propaganda piece on how it is impossible to commit voter fraud.

It had to cost many many millions to give that survey.

I should have looked into who was giving it.

It was online.

Lost me right there. If Trump wins they will blame the hackers.

We need to go old school with voting. No more early voting, require legitimate reasons for absentee voting, no voting machines - paper ballots clearly marked. All of this just increases the ease of fraud (which is why the dems support it I know)

Why am I supposed to hate Putin again? Expansionism? Hell being in the USSR is still better than the EU for most of those countries and he is at least fighting off the Muslims.

I’m glad we still have the paper ballot option which I always use. There is an electronic voting machine option but I don’t trust them. I trust Kris Kobach with our state elections but he isn’t always going to be Secretary of State.

“vulnerabilities...”

Like automatically switching a Trump vote to a hillary vote?

Yes, that would seem to be a ‘vulnerability.’
