“Many people don’t know it, but California has border stations—supposedly to inspect for forbidden out-of-state fruit. I expect they’ll be looking for ammo smugglers too.”

They have a nice new modern one on 80 West bound. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't have side scan radar that is used to flash inspect the big rigs although I doubt they would use it on individual cars unless there is something that triggers their suspicions.

About 3-4 years ago a professor at UC Davis was doing a study on gun related crime and importation of firearms and prohibited accessories from adjoining states. At that time there were Cali DOJ agents frequenting the Reno gunshows looking for big bulk purchases of ammo and hi-cap mags by people with Cali plates. The plates were noted and they did some stops on 80. They haven’t done anything that I have heard about in the recent past. It doesn't really matter as the Ag inspection stations are very easy to avoid.

Indeed, but I won’t say anymore on what I’m thinking. :-)
