The evil of identity politics is that it is the merger of faith and tribe, reinforced by the state.
Liberals who favor “social justice” divide society into competing tribes. Then they say that to officially be a member of each tribe, you are required to agree with X beliefs. If you don’t agree with their beliefs, you’re not really a member of the tribe. This results in ostracism by tribe members if you don’t conform and social pressure to conform in a way mere politics doesn’t - it is akin to religious pressure to conform by your family and friends.
This is how you can have Democrats say that women who aren’t feminists aren’t really women, blacks who are conservative are traitors (apostates) or not really black.
And by linking ideology to identity, it lets you say that those who oppose the ideology “hate” the identity group. It is similar to the liberal redefinition of tolerance to “agree with me entirely or shut up” and racism to “anything that isn’t positive of X, Y and Z groups but fine against men and whites”.
The reality is that there are many, many women Hillary voters who resent men, and they haven’t cared a bit about whether men in America have jobs, maintain self-respect, have to go to war, etc. etc. This writer has it entirely opposite of reality. Many of the women who I know voted for Trump, because they were tired of corruption.

Hillary got a SMALLER percentage of women than Obama in 2012
Trump got a LARGER percentage of women than Romney in 2012.
Clearly women favored Trump over Hillary and women gave Trump the edge to win.
(Well.. it also helps that Trump also won a higher percentage of blacks and a higher percentage of Hispanics than Romney did in the 2012 election)
