The reality of the civil war was not slavery. The reality was constitutional states rights. The end result was that the states don’t have the right to succede from the union. Lawyers today may be able to argue that more sucinctly, but it’s not hard to see the logic in not having the right to pull away.
Lady you are so wrong. The US Constitutions is silent on the subject of secession. It is not unconstitutional.
