500,000 People Sign Petition Asking Electoral College to Pick Clinton as President Instead of Trump

A petition on Change.org calling for the Electoral College to elect Hillary Clinton as President has earned over half of the signatures needed for it to be sent to the governing body.

The petition, launched on Wednesday after Donald Trump was elected President, calls for the Electoral College to “ignore their states’ votes and cast their ballots for Secretary Clinton.”

Although Trump won over the 270 necessary electoral votes to secure the Presidency, Clinton narrowly earned the nation’s popular vote.

The Electoral College – which was first introduced in 1804 – is comprised of 538 electors. Each state’s number of electors is decided by its number of members in Congress, which is dependent on the state’s population. So, when American citizens cast their ballots, they aren’t directly voting for president – they’re voting for electors. This year, Trump took 279, to Clinton’s 228.

You know what else? I feel sorry for homeschooled/private schooled kids. They have to be looking at these kids and asking “what are we going to do with all of these retarded kids/adults in the future?”. Dealing with them will be a nightmare. No this is not the same as dealing with someone who has Downs, as those people can generally be quite loving. These snowflakes are people who are retarded and hateful.

I bet we could get far more signatures for the EC to elect Trump. If it’s just signatures then why even hold an election?

Actually the system doesn't allow electors to hijack the vote.

Are there restrictions on who the Electors can vote for?

There is no Constitutional provision or Federal law that requires Electors to vote according to the results of the popular vote in their states. Some states, however, require Electors to cast their votes according to the popular vote. These pledges fall into two categories—Electors bound by state law and those bound by pledges to political parties.

The U.S. Supreme Court has held that the Constitution does not require that Electors be completely free to act as they choose and therefore, political parties may extract pledges from electors to vote for the parties' nominees. Some state laws provide that so-called "faithless Electors" may be subject to fines or may be disqualified for casting an invalid vote and be replaced by a substitute elector. The Supreme Court has not specifically ruled on the question of whether pledges and penalties for failure to vote as pledged may be enforced under the Constitution. No Elector has ever been prosecuted for failing to vote as pledged.

Today, it is rare for Electors to disregard the popular vote by casting their electoral vote for someone other than their party's candidate. Electors generally hold a leadership position in their party or were chosen to recognize years of loyal service to the party. Throughout our history as a nation, more than 99 percent of Electors have voted as pledged.

This year, Trump took 279, to Clinton’s 228.

That can't be official, as votes are still being counted. I've read various reports with different numbers. One I read, puts Trump at 306 electoral votes. They need to complete tallying absentee ballots.

This is a good reason to keep up the legal pressure on Hillary Clinton. Having her indicted before the electors vote would be icing on the election cake.

Who is Howard Zinn?

Howard Zinn was a Marxist political science professor at Boston University who, among other things, wrote a history text book in 1980 called "A People's History of the United States."

When you hear the historical narrative of America being an evil, monstrous country that was all about slavery, genocide and oppression, you're basically hearing the Howard Zinn narrative.

His text book and other writings had an enormous influence on generations of students as its teachings became the basis for history curricula in many high schools and colleges.

When you see the leftist culture in today's educational institutions, you are seeing the impact of Howard Zinn.

Of course it’s fraud.

Rigged voting machines in at least 16 states that flipped Trump votes to Clinton....13% of the illegal aliens in America admitting they voted....felons voting.....left-wing hacks registering in the names of deceased people, then voting in their names....God knows how many absentee ballots opened up and changed to Clinton by that Snipes woman in Broward County, Fla......busloads of college students and illegals going from polling place to polling place and voting repeatedly, and illegally....early voting shenanigans.....etc. etc.

In 2000 when Al Gore supposedly won the popular vote, the head of the Federal Elections Commission, a Bill Clinton appointee, said he believed that George W. Bush actually won the popular vote and was denied it because of fraud.

Only God knows how many states were stolen from Donald Trump this election cycle. This system needs major changes.

Only by a few, but 4 million voted for her in NY and CA alone, so that’s not surprising. That’s why we always urged conservatives in CA to vote even if they feel it’s a lost cause.

I'm not sorry I voted. I don't think it was a lost cause. If you subtracted all the fraudulent votes, including those by non-citizens, Trump may well have won California.

Clinton narrowly earned the nation’s popular vote.

There isn't such a thing.

Since there is actually no "national election" the alleged "popular vote" is simply the sum of the states' "popular vote" but it is only a statistical number used by the RATs and media for propaganda purposes.

Were it not for the electoral college mechanism, the big cities would always select the president.

It sounds like electors could change their vote, at risk of fines, but then Soros would be sending them a fat envelope for their trouble.
