Just as a post script :o)

I’m DYING for my eight year old to become my shootin’ buddy, but she hates, hates, HATES loud noises.

Seriously, this child covers her ears when flushing a public toilet, and if it doesn’t have towel paper she’ll leave the rest room with wet hands.

If suppressors were over-the-counter legal, that child would have the best arsenal in the second grade by to-mmor-ow!

Have you tried good headphones? I do get it. I have a 5 year old who hates loud noises too. And I don’t love loud gunshots either. I would wear headphones.

No no no! Not a dumb question!

Like anything having to do with guns, there are many variables.

You can get suppressors in many configurations. Some last longer up to indefinite, and some are more effective.

What makes them a pain is they are regulated out the wazoo, and breaking one of those regulations can send you up the river for thirty years!

Oh sure, headphones are fine for us adults, but remember what happens when you turn your head just a little bit the wrong way and the headphones “gap?”

That’d be the end of THAT program ;o)

How about for the same reason cars have mufflers? I can target shoot with a silencer and be much less of a disturbance to the neighbors, and I can hunt without scaring every deer in a mile radius. I can shoot with a silencer without using ear protection and do no hearing damage. Shooting is just a lot more comfortable if it’s quieter.

How often do criminals actually care how noisy their shots are? Silencers are not a tool for crime, and they weren’t used by criminals even before the law made them more expensive. I can easily make a silencer (illegally) but criminals never do that because they don’t want one. It’s mainly law-abiding shooters who benefit from the silencer.

There is a relatively easy way to achieve nationwide concealed carry. The case of South Dakota v. Dole was the case that essentially established the nationwide drinking age of 21. In Dole, the SCOTUS held that it was constitutional for the Feds to withhold a percentage of federal highway funds to any state which did not set its drinking age at 21.

Dole’s holding has since been applied also to the national .08 blood alcohol level for a DWI. States have to set the maximum BAC at no more than .08 or forfeit a percentage of highway funds.

On that note, Congress could simply establish that all states must issue CCW permits to any adult without a criminal record or a mental health illness history. Any states that want to continue their own arbitrary “may issue” policy (such as my toilet state of NJ) will forfeit a percentage of federal law enforcement grants/funding (which help pay for equipment etc for local police departments). No state would cling to their idiotic “may issue” law if it meant forfeiting that Federal money, just as no state has an 18 drinking age and no state has a BAC level over .08. The state gov’t piggies may squeal but no way would they ever risk losing the federal pork.

The libs would go utterly berserk, but this approach is 100% assured to pass Constitutional muster, and could be implemented very quickly given our House and Senate control. As a side note, I strongly disagree with the reasoning and holding of Dole, but as the libs love to say it is “settled law.” So if they want to overturn Dole we’ll again have states with 18 year olds drinking and .15 for a max BAC etc.

Trump is well known as a CCW holder who often carries. He’s one of the very lucky few who managed to get an NYC conceal carry permit. If I’m not mistaken, during some trouble at his early rallies I think there was footage that showed Trump going for his gun, but not actually drawing it.

As President, will Trump still be allowed to carry his own firearm? Anyone know if there is a regulation on this? I’m sure the SS would object to it, since there’s a chance an assailant could wrangle it away, etc. Still, I just think the idea of a POTUS himself being armed is so damn cool.

>>Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump — who said he has a concealed carry permit — called for the expansion of gun rights Friday, including making those permits applicable nationwide. In a position paper published on his website Friday afternoon, Trump called for the elimination of gun and magazine bans, labeling them a “total failure.”
*********************************************************

On the one hand, it would make travel a lot easier for those who have permits in the state in which they reside.

On the other hand, my reaction is...permits are not needed at all, whether it is for concealed or open carry. The 2nd amendment doesn’t distinguish between the two. It’s very simply and clearly stated.

Creating federal law coordinating what is the states domain appears unconstitutional. It gets murky when the whole permit thing is unconstitutional from the start.

He needs to make EVERY state follow the Constitution!!

Or ban funding to them.

I’m in NYC and would rather see it go under than have my rights abridge that much further into the future.
