North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory said in a news release Thursday that he was declaring a state of emergency for one-quarter of North Carolina's 100 counties. He said the declaration will help with evacuations and provide more state assets to fight the wildfires and support those who were evacuated.

“As eastern North Carolina was underwater due to flooding from Hurricane Matthew, the western part of the state has been suffering from a severe drought and now hundreds of acres are burning,” said Governor McCrory.
I live an hour northeast of Atlanta and for the past several days we have had very heavy smoke in the air from the fires to our north. We desperately need rain down here.

I think in one fire but there are multiple fires over a large area. We need a lot of rain and soon.
The fire in Georgia was started by a lightning strike.

Several other fires are suspected as being arson in Rabun county
Lots of helicopters in the air around my part of WNC. Saw a Sikorsky sky crane with an empty sling underneath headed back to the airport for a another load yesterday.
I had planned a scouting trip to WNC for a retirement home. That’s on hold for now.

The Rabun County by fire is arson. The cops have a description of a suspect in a darkblue SUV.
I am sure that some of the fires were caused by carelessness too.
Not nationally but here in Georhia we are getting the news. Some fires have been set here in the north woods. The smoke from many of them is absolutely starting to choke us
Their are multiple fires in Georgia. One was started by lightning strike. The others are suspected arson
The entire state of Mississippi is under a burn ban. It is considered dangerous near the Blackland Prairie areas of the state.
People are starting to think about extended stays with friends or relatives out of the area until they get the fires out or more under control
As is western SC.
The msm has decided that this all “fly over country” and doesn’t matter.
My friend in Bryson City/Nanthahalia told me that two arsonists started fires in his area.
