Bolton is a man who sees the world clearly for what it is.

I would be fine with John Bolton. One of my only concerns with Trump is that he seems to lean a little too far toward isolationism at times. I think Bolton would bring some balance to foreign policy.

That's not to say that we don't need to seriously re-evaluate the overly interventionist policies of the past few administrations - we do, but it is crucial that we not throw the baby out with the bath water by neglecting the need to protect our vital interests around the world. It's a fine line to walk. We do need to focus on ourselves for a while and on building up the military and getting it out of the cycle of constant deployment that has helped to grind it down. But we also need to address certain threats (such as Iran) preemptively, because the consequences of them hitting us or our allies without warning cannot be taken lightly, and are too severe to try to respond to after the fact.

For rational, deterrable enemies the best approach by far is "peace through strength." Some though, like Iran, are not rational and therefore not necessarily deterrable. In those situations pre-emptive action of some sort is inevitable, and I think Bolton has a firm grasp on what is needed in those circumstances.

Would be fine with me - make the jackasses of the world answer to The Stache

Got a conservative spine of steel and can stand up to the nastiest of the nasty.

I would have said Ambassador to the UN, but we should kick them to Paris and really send the world a signal so that position would be unnecessary.

Here’s a thought. Rush mentioned that the Arizona AG, I forget his name, is in line for AG.

What if Rudy wants to be the special prosecutor for the Clinton Foundation/email case? I can see him not wanting to commit to a four/eight year gig. Taking down the Clintons and everyone in their orbit, up to an including Obama, would be a very nice feather in his cap and a helluva way to ride off into the sunset.
