Sotomayor says nation 'can't afford to despair' over Trump

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor said Tuesday that Americans “can’t afford to despair” in the wake of Donald Trump's election as president.

Speaking to an audience at a Capitol Hill cultural center, Sotomayor said the nation can’t afford for a president to fail, but stressed that “every person has an obligation both to continue being heard and to continue doing the right thing.”

The justice was responding to a question from radio host Bill Press about whether Trump’s victory made her feel apprehensive. She declined to answer directly, but said people “can’t afford to give up on pursuing the values that we and others have fought so hard to achieve.”

“So for me this is a challenge,” she said. “I will continue doing what I think is the right thing.”

We need, as a group.....to stop thinking as these people as influential.

They are not any longer.

We got the Presidency. We got the next few Supreme Court nominees. We got the House. We got the Senate.

Who the eff cares what they think? Did they care what we thought?

Enough of this gobbledeegook.

We have power. We need to use it.....and not be ashamed when we do.

“I will continue doing what I think is the right thing.” (said Sotomeyer)
Sounds a lot like “Vote your conscience.”

I’m good with anyone Trump chooses. But keep in mind that a judge has to take an oath.
I hope Cruz runs for re-election in 2018.

I don’t think Ginsberg is going anywhere by choice.

They still influence the insurrectionists and snowflake college students who are “protesting” in the major cities. And there are too many people still who think like them.

Intending no disrespect to you, but who cares?

The people “protesting” are being paid to do so, by the same people that paid to elect Clinton.

They represent nothing but chaos. Ignore them and they are forced to take another method.

Let the snowflakes melt, and let these insurrectionists beat their fists against a brick wall.

THEY NO LONGER MATTER.

You don’t seriously think the Senate would confirm Cruz, do you?

They still need to be dealt with, whether ideologues or goons, insofar as the damage they intend to cause. That’s all I meant.

Ignore them, and they’ll go away just like the stinky Wall Street gang. It’s the same people.

They see no results....the people hiring them will stop paying, and they’ll go back to playing Minecraft in their gramma’s basement.

I’m not coming at you, but I spent quite a bit of time on the front line with Save Our State, and although we failed in California (10 years too early).....

We learned a lot of lessons.

Ignore these rabble. They don’t matter. When their employers see they are being ignored....they stop being paid. Then they go away.

Have faith in what happened last week.

I have faith in God.

Ignoring Islamists got us 9/11. And as I hope everyone knows, Islam has embraced its own form of socialism, making them another faction of our old enemy.

No, she thinks she's a legislator, with lifetime tenure, in a legislative body of nine super-senators.

Well, she is. That's the reality. We all talk about Presidential elections being important because of the Supreme Court because we all know they are the ones who really rule us and we all know that the only influence we ever get over that court in our supposed republic is that one instant with the President makes the nomination. Other than that, they have lifetime tenure and can make laws by fiat which cannot be overruled without a constitutional amendment, which is to say, virtually never. Yeah, they rule us.

I’m sure she’s done it openly in the past, but I haven’t looked further back in the public record.

They only rule us for as long as we allow them to. Just like the colonists allowed George III to tyrannize them for only so long. Mankind is not disposed to suffer when evils become insufferable.
