Emails: Clinton Donor Claimed To Be In Cahoots With Head Of Conservative Think Tank
Daily Caller ^ | November 15, 2016 | Peter Hasson

Arthur Brooks, president of the conservative nonprofit American Enterprise Institute, helped billionaire Clinton donor Lynn Forester de Rothschild secure the support of Republicans for Hillary Clinton, Rothschild claimed in an email to John Podesta.

An AEI spokesperson confirmed that Rothschild and Brooks know each other but strongly denied that Brook helped or was in contact with the Clinton campaign in any way, claiming Rothschild misunderstood Brooks’ words.

On June 28, almost two months after Donald Trump had clinched the Republican nomination, Rothschild forwarded an email chain between herself and Brooks to Clinton campaign manager John Podesta and former Walmart executive Leslie Dach. As noted by Politico, Dach was in charge of bringing disaffected Republicans into the Clinton camp.

Rothschild told Podesta and Dach that Brooks was “helping me with many Republicans.” The email chain between Rothschild and Brooks shows Rothschild pushing Brooks over how best to “engage you with Hillary” and Brooks replying that he would be “delighted to talk with Hillary or her campaign people.”

At Secretive Meeting, Tech CEOs And Top Republicans Commiserate, Plot To Stop Trump

Karl Rove shared focus group findings that give hope to the GOP establishment.

03/07/2016

Billionaires, tech CEOs and top members of the Republican establishment flew to a private island resort off the coast of Georgia this weekend for the American Enterprise Institute’s annual World Forum, according to sources familiar with the secretive gathering.

The main topic at the closed-to-the-press confab? How to stop Republican front-runner Donald Trump. (The meeting was not planned to be a strategy session on how to stop the GOP front-runner, but rather evolved into one, as a subsequently obtained agenda makes clear.)

Apple CEO Tim Cook, Google co-founder Larry Page, Napster creator and Facebook investor Sean Parker, and Tesla Motors and SpaceX honcho Elon Musk all attended. So did Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), political guru Karl Rove, House Speaker Paul Ryan, GOP Sens. Tom Cotton (Ark.), Cory Gardner (Colo.), Tim Scott (S.C.), Rob Portman (Ohio) and Ben Sasse (Neb.), who recently made news by saying he “cannot support Donald Trump.”

Along with Ryan, the House was represented by Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Fred Upton (Mich.), Rep. Kevin Brady (Texas) and almost-Speaker Kevin McCarthy (Calif.), sources said, along with leadership figure Cathy McMorris Rodgers (Wash.), Budget Committee Chairman Tom Price (R-Ga.), Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (Texas) and Diane Black (Tenn.).

Philip Anschutz, the billionaire GOP donor whose company owns a stake in Sea Island, was also there, along with Democratic Rep. John Delaney, who represents Maryland. Arthur Sulzberger, the publisher of The New York Times, was there, too, a Times spokeswoman confirmed.

“A specter was haunting the World Forum—the specter of Donald Trump,” Kristol wrote in an emailed report from the conference, borrowing the opening lines of the Communist Manifesto. “There was much unhappiness about his emergence, a good deal of talk, some of it insightful and thoughtful, about why he’s done so well, and many expressions of hope that he would be defeated.”

Bill Kristol @BillKristol

Heading to AEI World Forum. Lots of interesting guests. It’s off the record, so please do consider my tweets from there off the record!

I have no doubt there are Vichy Republicans. Time to smoke these traitors out, and put their names out in public.

I don’t see in the article the source of the released emails. Are these new releases from Wikileaks?

How often I’ve done the same! Get me in a large, exclusive political gathering, and the next thing you know, I’m riffing on the Communist Manifesto. Don’t all conservatives do likewise?

I don’t see it in wikileaks, (or google).

It could be in an attachment.

These traitors have been caught by WikiLeaks plotting against the Republican nominee. Now they are trying to squirm off the hook. Never forget.

I don’t know brooks but I personally know a couple of people at AEI, I’ve worked with them, and been to their office numerous times. So I have a very hard time believing this. If this is true, it would have to have been brooks and his inner circle, not the organization as a whole.

So can we expect them all to resign and go public if this is confirmed?

The board would probably force them out but the proof would have to be more then one lying liberal sack of shit talking to another lying liberal sack of shit. And remember that, these people are natural born liers; they’d have no problem boasting ‘oh I’m so good I got a conservative helping me’ to one another. Would have made them more useful to Clinton. Now all that said, AEI weren’t huge trump supporters although they of course supported him after the primary. They’re ideological conservatives and (small l) libertarians, trump most certainly is not.

Well I would wait and see what their actions tell us. They have shown me no reason to suspect any of them.

However, Arthur Brooks actions do show he actively collaborated with the Clinton campaign. That is crossing a line.

AEI is not conservative.

It is neocon central.
