Donald Trump is considering charter school advocate Eva Moskowitz to serve as education secretary, according to a senior Trump official.
The official says Moskowitz, the founder of Success Academy Charter Schools, was at Trump Tower Wednesday meeting with the president-elect's team.
Moskowitz is a former New York City councilwoman and a Democrat. She's clashed with Mayor Bill de Blasio over the expansion of some of her charter schools.
De Blasio was also at Trump Tower Wednesday meeting with the president-election.

she shounds like she has something good to offer but I would much prefer eliminating the Dept of Education, it is superfluous at BEST and positively harmful meddling in local public education...normally.

Trump wants to see charter schools and school vouchers, which would be opposed by blue states. So he is taking a govt approach to bypass them

Exactly! get rid of the bloated beast..she’s a big proponent of charter schools, school choice etc..Can’t find anything specific about her views on common core but she fought DeBlasio on it so that’s a positive.

Use the DOE (with new people) to right the wrongs done by it before doing away with it....
Draining the swamp that is public education is vitally important. If our nation’s children continue to be indoctrinated into leftism, our other gains will be short-lived.
There shouldn’t even be a Federal Department of Education.
We wanted her to run for mayor in 2013 but she said no.
I can see doing it gradually. Get the idea of meritocracy going again first. Curb some of the funding abuses. She knows her stuff. But no more Common Core. I don’t know where she stands on that.

I hope Trump is aware that schools are nothing more than indoctrination centers with foreign agents and PACS free to roam and brainwash. Such choices sidestep what is being taught to the kids.

Not exactly a homeschooling thread, but of relevance to them.
That post should be eliminated. Leave education to locals.
