Get rid of the nespotism, cronyism, non-former military executives in the VA and it would run fine all over the country. Whenever possible only hire vets, and that includes doctors. If no qualified vet then look at non-vets. Once the vet is hired, for any position, give him preference for advancement over non-vets. You have retired senior NCOs pushing mops all over the VA, working for a 30 year old who was hired by her mother when she was 18 years old. Or an 18 year old, who never served a day, hired by a relative in the maintenance shop, passing over vets who have worked in the shop for years. All this nonsense needs to end.
I’ve only touched on it, then you have to add in Medicaid and Medicare fraud and waste along with DSS and SS. Just getting the illegals off the programs will reduce the cost by billions.
It will take Trump and a lot of good auditors a year or more to even scratch the surface.
I wish they’d get the people who write the Pig Book to help them, they already know where most of it is. And with their team and Heritage they’d go faster.
If they can get the clintoons for fraud, all that money can be used to pay down the debt. A reward program for those who find good ways to reduce cost is a starting point. And for those who blow the whistle on these idiots.
NO DAM$ ear marks!
Seems that way — though, he was running for POTUS. Perhaps the political process became the rude awakening he didn’t anticipate. But Carson did follow through to at least election day, and for that the constituents should be grateful. I certainly am.
All the fawning attention from running for president is addictively satisfying. And for those like Dr. Carson with a money-making machine attached it is its own reward.
I doubt he ever expected to become president.
Definitely. And no doubt a factor for most of the candidates.
Oh, and re: Mitt, I’ve heard it said he isn’t fit to be named dog catcher—considering how he drove his panicked Irish Setter around in a crate on top of his car.
Yup, more than once he proved himself to be a complete jerk.
We don’t need a politician at the VA.
We need a CG of Medical Corps from one of the military services.
I like that idea. When my Dad was sick, he had to catch a bus for 4-5 hr. ride to the KC VA. Eventually, he just wasn’t really up to making that trip.
It seemed to me that there is a great deal of duplication. He had to go to the VA in order to get his medicines from them, and couldn’t afford the medicine any other way. However, he also had to go to local Doctors which often duplicated tests that the VA did, which was paid for by medicare.
Seemed to me like it would be better, to just let them choose their doctor and then pay the Doctor for the service or something.
“They already did. Elizabeth Warren defeated him 4 years ago.” Right.
