Turn all the VA hospitals into housing for homeless vets and give vets the ability to see the doctor of their choice.
That is a tremendous pair of ideas! I have not understood why vets should be limited to such a limited range of locations for medical care, why not enable them to go to any qualified medical facility??
And if all hospitals and clinics are available to our vets, then why not make better use of the existing VA infrastructure to take care of the worst off veterans who are homeless??
Agreed there, but many of the Veteran's Hospitals and Clinics are top-notch, and I know this from personal experience.
What a great idea!
I like that idea. When my Dad was sick, he had to catch a bus for 4-5 hr. ride to the KC VA. Eventually, he just wasn’t really up to making that trip.
It seemed to me that there is a great deal of duplication. He had to go to the VA in order to get his medicines from them, and couldn’t afford the medicine any other way. However, he also had to go to local Doctors which often duplicated tests that the VA did, which was paid for by medicare.
Seemed to me like it would be better, to just let them choose their doctor and then pay the Doctor for the service or something.
