Sounds to me like a Trump wants Mattis, but Mattis is not sure he wants the job.

Weren’t the Marines in Haditha under his overall command, when they were railroaded for murder? I do not believe he did anything to help their cause and 7 service members careers were destroyed, including the BC... If I am incorrect on this , please advise me.

This must be a decoy.

Mattis was retired in 2013 and therefore is not eligible for SecDef before 2020.

“A person may not be appointed as Secretary of Defense within seven years after relief from active duty[...]”

10 U.S. Code § 113 - Secretary of Defense

Can be waves by Congress.

I don’t know if it’s a decoy. Trump spoke repeatedly about Patton and MacArthur and Mattis seems to be of that mold.

If I am not mistaken the last time Congress granted a waiver for this requirement was for Marshall in 1950.
I am not convinced that it would easily pass again. Do you know whether it requires a simple majority?

Hopefully this is not true.

Mattis is part of the swamp, as evidenced by his sitting on the board of the massive Theranos scam.
