Blurb quoting white supremacist leader ‘was poor judgment and we very much regret it and apologize’
CNN apologized for a banner flashed onscreen during a segment on white supremacist groups which read, “Alt-right founder questions whether Jews are people.”
The segment was aired Monday on “The Lead,” which was being guest-hosted by Jim Sciutto.
On Tuesday, CNN said in a statement concerning the banner, known as a chyron: “It was poor judgment and we very much regret it and apologize.”
The Monday segment concerned statements made over the weekend by Richard Spencer at an event of his white supremacist think tank National Policy Institute. Spencer suggested that the news media had been critical of presidential candidate Donald Trump in order to protect Jewish interests. “One wonders if these people are people at all, or instead soulless golem,” Spencer said.

The real question, why is CNN giving Spencer a platform. Any number of Muslim groups they could quote saying worse about Jews and Christians. Could it be a desire to inaccurately associate Spencer with Trump and Republicans?

Is it any wonder CNN was questioning this, when they live with Wolf Blitzer? When he did his genetic test on 23andMe, it came back with pictures of meerkats and small badger like species.

He was, CNN changed it from media to Jews. He was referring to the media protecting Jewish interests by attacking Trump. But it's the media he described as soulless golem, not Jews.

He was on vacation and claims to have been upset by the tagline. However it is his staff, and I reject Tapper’s contension that CNN wasn’t giving a platform to hate. A few of his tweets are at the link.
CNN abuses their chyron often enough these days. Mainly using it to telegraph to the viewers what they think of a particular person or group and oftentimes uses it to put words in Trump’s mouth.
