Knives may come out at post-election Thanksgivings
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | November 22, 2016 | Steve Rubenstein

Thanksgiving, a holiday with a carving knife built into it, looks fraught with even more peril this year.

Families, like everyone else, are still smarting from the election. This time around, turkey day could be a battleground state all its own. Relatives on opposite sides of the spectrum who discover themselves on opposite sides of the holiday table may find their composure as wobbly as a plate of cranberry sauce

Same here - 100 percent Trump voters (and a very vocal 12 year old Trumpster).

A week ago, one of my Leftist nieces posted a rant on Facebook, including maps, showing how the West Really belongs to Mexico. Today is her Birthday, no way on God’s green earth will I wish her a Happy Birthday.

Does anyone know if the old bird has been pardoned yet?

No, Hillary hasn't received one yet.

Lost my parents when I was younger. Now I treasure nothing more than my kids coming for Thanksgiving or Christmas. They bring their friends or significant others. We’ve had liberals, conservatives, vegetarians, imbibers, AA members, tattoos, Raiders fans, religious, atheist, bums, hard workers, and I have for the most part enjoyed and celebrated every moment.

This one will not be state against state. Secession won’t be a part of it. It was be brother against sister, son against father, and neighbor against neighbor.

Some day she’ll regret this and wish that she still had parents to visit. Silly woman.

I wonder if this egghead held her tongue at the previous eight Thanksgiving dinners.

Absolutely not. Like the good little moronic lemming she is, she followed BHO & Co.'s "advice" and advocated unpopular/illegal/unworkable administration policies to her relatives that can recognize a pig in a poke when they see or hear it.

I guess you don’t follow current events. No need for blood shed the Californians have it right. Secession works for all parties.

Saturday evening I went out on a dinner date. We sat at the bar for cocktails as we waited for our table to be readied. My date engaged the bartender in a discussion about Trump, bit as an observer, it was apparent to me that the lady wasn’t a Trump fan. She tried to find a polite way to disengage from the conversation.

S9, I suggested to her thst it was my hope that Mr. Trump could bring us financially back to the early sixties, or even the ‘80’s. I recall those early sixties when one could pay tje mortgage, utilities, new car payment, all insurances, groceries for a large family, clothing for the family, entertainment, and still have a savings account! It was all done on ONE income! Mom was available to us, and she wasn’t as overworked as she would have been had she also had to take an outside job.

I wish you could have seen the facial expressions on that lady’s face as I spoke. I watched the surprise turn to a hungry desire as she mentally compared what her life is now to what life was like for me, growing up.

The tension was diffused, and she had something otjer than the MSM rhetoric to consider.

People need hope. We may never see those post war years again, but the early 80’s were pretty decent compared to the last 25 years.

Perhaps she will have some hope to share with her friends.

this sounds like a non-story in search of a news outlet. It appears the chronicle and other liberal news scammers are trying to get something going.

Our parents were....well...not so great. Having to spend time with a SUCK THE LIFE OUT OF YA PERSON is really rotten at Thanksgiving...but, we’re doing it....again. She voted for Hillary.

I’m not so sure. Liberals have shown that they love to take, even incite, violence, but to a man are unwilling to do it themselves, always trying to provoke proxies to act for them.

Probably, as far as the media’s motivation. But Dem households need no excuse to bring out the knives.

So tell her that her house really belongs to the former owner, even though she paid them for the house. The USA paid almost $20 million for the West, which was a lot back then, even though the USA conquered Mexico in a war. Some of that money went to pay off all of Mexico's debts. Mexico would have been in the toilet if the USA didn't cover Mexico's debts. The USA owns the West, all legal.
