I recall those early sixties when one could pay tje mortgage, utilities, new car payment, all insurances, groceries for a large family, clothing for the family, entertainment, and still have a savings account!

Amazing, how the liberals trashed our economy! The 1960s, when you could buy a great car for $2500 fully decked out. Multiple bags of groceries for $25. Clothing and shoes for a few bucks. Movies for 25 to 50 cents, and they were double-movies with cartoons between them. And savings accounts, that paid lots of interest, enough for seniors to live off the interest. Then there were the plentiful jobs where someone without a high school diploma could get a good paying job. Sigh...

Staci is a loser and will likely be a lonely loser this Thanksgiving.

I may have to avoid my dinner on account of not being sure what the liberals in my family will say.

Whoever Stacie is I may end up like her. I don’t want to deal with liberals.

This Staci woman took my idea. I am not going to listen to people whine about Trump.

Staci, you are an unattractive 36 year old woman, who is a PhD student in a field where you are unlikely to pay off your student loans, much less accumulate any retirement savings.

There is no mention of your husband or “significant other”, which leads me to guess that there is no man in your life willing to put up with you.

In a few years, you will find yourself old and alone, having alienated all your family.

My family was apolitical and respectful of all sidesigned until my aunt went back to college during Bushes administration to get a MBA. Started sensing she was repeating DNC/MSM talking points around 06. Since then she went off the rails. Married a progressive man.

While I agree with your sentiments, this is what I wrote on Facebook:

I hate to say this, but given the fact Election Day was just exactly two weeks ago, we may have no choice but to either cancel Thanksgiving dinner or expect a lot less guests this year.

Why? Because when the mainstream media (MSM) drove the political Left to a frenzy to support Hillary Clinton, they also unintentionally caused a massive psychological crash when she lost. As such, it's an emotionally raw issue for Hillary supporters, to say the least, and it may be unpleasant to deal with it during a big family gathering like Thanksgiving dinner. Also not helping was that almost EVERY aspect of our lives got caught up in the election cycle--even sports with the Colin Kaepernick controversy. As such, there are essentially no "safe" topics to discuss at the Thanksgiving dinner table.

As such, I wouldn't be surprised that restaurant reservations for Thanksgiving and grocery sales for Thanksgiving-related items will be down this year.

Hopefully, by Christmas Eve (which this year coincides with the first night of Hanukkah), things will calm down and we can have family gatherings without starting arguments (or worse!) for all the wrong reasons.

What a precious snowflake Staci Lewis is. A doctoral student at 36 and I wonder if she ever held a real job?

I quit liberalism and the Democratic party in the first Clinton term. For years after that I was the center of controversy in my very Democrat family and was picked on from all sides because I was the only one expressing a dissenting view. I could take it and as time went on my family has divided between the hyper-liberal and those whose eyes have opened so it is no longer me against everyone.

After grad school I moved to San Jose and worked in an environment where liberalism was the defacto POV, expressing a conservative opinion made you the subject of mockery by co-workers and conservatives spoke to each other behind closed office doors in soft voices- and from what I gather this was a relatively conservative tolerant workplace compared to the rest of the valley. I don’t doubt these delicate Bay Area flowers have no problems bullying any slightly conservative people around them in their schools and work places but cannot take it when they are outnumbered.

Families, like everyone else, are still smarting from the election.

This arrogance is why her side lost.

Fortunately for me, everyone I am having Thanksgiving with is just as thrilled as I am that the Wicked Witch of Chappaqua was defeated.

There will be one Hillary voter when I go to my brother's house tomorrow. He's a blowhard nobody likes to talk to anyway. His wife works full time while he works 3 or 4 hours in the morning delivering newspapers. Typical democrat voting male.

“People were being disowned by their children because they voted for Trump.”

Well, on the bright side, maybe they’ll move out of the basement, get jobs, and pay for their own health insurance.
