Finally? Is this dancing, tip toeing finally finished? (Hopefully HUD, EPA, DOEducation are going away.)

I am pleased Carson accepted, but disappointed that Trump didn’t/doesn’t plan to abolish the HUD...

I still say the Trump Administration will be the Dream Team!

MAGA!

Good choice. DJT is all about revitalizing cities so this’ll be a do-something job.

A kindly, brilliant BLACK man in charge of Housing and Urban Development.

Another perfect placement.

He's building an executive, NOT organizing a community!

What does HUD have to do with revitalizing urban centers? I hope Trumps intent here is to revitalize by removing impediments to growth, creating tax incentives to bring in new business to dead city areas, etc. I hope its not by giving more tax dollars to create more gubment “employees” in the inner cities.

I wondered that as well. But then when you think he was raised in the projects, grew up poor, perhaps his perspective can bring change to HOUSING issues. Job responsibilities below:

sustains support for housing counseling services, including assistance for families in danger of foreclosure, and Federal Housing Administration (FHA) mortgage insurance to support home purchases and lower-cost re-financed mortgages, as well as providing loss mitigation solutions for FHA-insured borrowers at risk of foreclosure.

Improves public housing and revitalizes surrounding neighborhoods by providing $250 million to continue HUD’s transformative investments in high-poverty neighborhoods where distressed HUD-assisted public and privately-owned housing is located.

Invests in sustainable communities by providing $150 million for more communities to develop comprehensive local and regional housing and transportation plans that result in sustainable development, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and increased transit-accessible housing.

Bolsters economic rejuvenation in hard-hit areas with a new Growth Zone program that will deliver expanded tax incentives for investment and employment (in collaboration with the Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration).

He grew up in the inner city in a fatherless household, with a tenacious, illiterate mother who made Dr. Carson & his brother go to the library and submit book reports to her each week. She was unable to read them, but pretended as if she could.

He knows firsthand about the problems of the ‘RAT-controlled urban plantations — collapsed families, illegitimacy, gangs, drugs, violence, failed schools, ghettos — and can communicate with the citizenry.

I think he’s a good pick for HUD, although the dept. should be recombined with HHS and Education, and its name changed back to HEW.

This may be on purpose.

Tire the interest, then appoint the more controversial picks with less scrutiny.

But, Trump knows how to keep his name in the paper.

The day Trump refused to walk onto the debate stage after Ben Carson didn’t hear his call just showed the respect he has for The Good Doctor.

Whilst Jeb, Cruz and Rubio sprinted onto the stage, Mr Trump did not want Carson to feel alone and embarassed.

It’s moments like that which show a mans true character

Yeah I think so, too. Though his theology is a tad off, we have a conservative American patriot here that works.

Also, it further disarms the lying leftist MSM.

That’s the only “reformation” that corrupt, racist, social-engineering department needs. What we don’t need is anyone who will try to prove their relevance by continuing to misuse this dept as a means of wealth redistribution, reparations, and the destruction of the social cohesion and social trust of existing neighborhoods, and I pray that Dr Carson understands that and doesn’t get so caught up in trying to prove his viability that he continues that agenda, which is HUD’s present agenda.

Why not Surgeon General? What does a doctor know about urban renewal?

I think all of that should be disbursed back to the state. For instance, Mass wants to teach grade school children the sodomite agenda even if the parents of a student oppose it (the parents weren’t supposed to know in the first place). If a majority of Mass citizens would vote to support this, that would be Mass’ business. But as things stand, with these agencies, they try to impose Mass values on, say, MS, in which a huge majority of parents oppose this.

He’s black, and it seems to be unwritten law that a black person must head these social engineering/urban “renewal” programs, or anything which touches upon “urban” issues, in this one definition of “urban”.

This was 0bongo's idea of housing and urban renewal...

Mr. Community Organizer did wonders with Federal money for low-cost housing in Chicago.

Grim proving ground for Obama's housing policy

"About 99 of the units are vacant, many rendered uninhabitable by unfixed problems, such as collapsed roofs and fire damage. Mice scamper through the halls. Battered mailboxes hang open. Sewage backs up into kitchen sinks. In 2006, federal inspectors graded the condition of the complex an 11 on a 100-point scale - a score so bad the buildings now face demolition."

Fannie, Freddie spent millions on lobbying

Raines, the company's former chief financial officer, Timothy Howard, and former controller Leanne Spencer were accused in a civil lawsuit of manipulating earnings over a six-year period at Fannie. Raines was appointed by Clinton, after serving as White House budget director under Clinton.

Raines' predecessor, former Fannie Mae chief James Johnson, is a prominent Democrat who was an adviser to 2004 Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry and was selected by Obama to help vet his vice presidential prospects. But controversy over favorable loan deals he obtained with Countrywide Financial Corp., a bank seriously damaged by the mortgage meltdown decline, prompted him to abruptly resign that post in June.

Former Fannie chief agrees to $24.7 million settlement

WASHINGTON — Former Fannie Mae chief Franklin Raines and two other top executives have agreed to a $31.4 million settlement with the government announced Friday over their roles in a 2004 accounting scandal.

Raines, former Fannie chief financial officer Timothy Howard and former controller Leanne Spencer were accused in a civil lawsuit in December 2006 with manipulating earnings over a six-year period at the company, the largest U.S. financer and guarantor of home mortgages.

Raines, a prominent Washington figure who was President Clinton's budget director, is relinquishing company stock options, proceeds from stock sales and other benefits. His part of the settlement is worth $24.7 million,

I like this choice. Those who would like to co-opt the position by voting down Trump's choices wouldn't dare oppose a black man who was brought up in the inner city. I would imagine Donald who likes to build things will actually be overseeing the shenanigans at HUD.

Dr. Carson is a very excellent role model as a minority who reached the top of his field without Affirmative Action. Isn't that the message we want to send to the inner cities?
