Donald Trump 'Works Through Thanksgiving To Keep Carrier AC company In The United States'
The London Daily Mail ^ | 03:49 EST, 25 November 2016 | By DAILYMAIL.COM REPORTER

Donald Trump may be spending Thanksgiving with his family in his Florida club Mar-a-Lago, but the President-elect promises he hasn't stopped working. On Thursday he tweeted: 'I am working hard, even on Thanksgiving, trying to get Carrier A.C. Company to stay in the U.S. (Indiana). MAKING PROGRESS - Will know soon!'

Earlier this year Carrier announced that it would relocate its production plant to Mexico, causing the loss of 1,400 US jobs in Indianapolis. In a campaign speech in the city, Trump promised he would 'tax the hell' out of Carrier's Mexico-produced products - to the tune of 35 per cent - to make them change their mind. Carrier responded to Trump's tweet with one of his own, saying: 'Carrier has had discussions with the incoming administration and we look forward to working together. Nothing to announce at this time.'

Trump kept his energy up with a five-course meal with his family, with options including 'three-layer Trump chocolate cake' and 'Mr Trump's wedge salad'. The five-course luxury menu was made available to the press, to give a hint at what the Trumps might be dining on for Thanksgiving. And what a feast it was, with a selection of options including herb-marinated beef tenderloin, pan-seared Chilean sea bass and red-wine-braised short ribs. But the more intriguing options were outside the main courses - such as the 'three layer Trump chocolate pie' in the dessert section. Meanwhile, the 'From the Garden' options included 'Mr Trump's Wedge Salad' and 'Ahi Tuna Martini's' [sic].

and their quality will go to hell. We need to reduce the cost of doing business and make it attractive to keep production here. But, in the meantime, a little incentive will stem the bleeding. Globalism has failed America. Only a few have benefited from it. Without a strong middle class this country goes third world. If that’s what you want, by all means focus on shareholder gains only.

My take is that Trump will try to get to the bottom and find the onerous regulations that are also running up costs. It’s possible that even with expensive labor, the eliminated cost of regulation can induce Carrier to stay.

Yes. Something like that. And other large companies also.

That savings isn’t passed onto the consumer, it just goes to increased profit margin, higher stock dividends for shareholders and bigger bonuses for douchebags MBA’s in management.

Eff them.

AMERICAN JOBS GOING TO MEXICO

NOT GOING TO HAPPEN ANYMORE.

Hopefully, Trump’s plan will induce the following response:”It’s going to cost that much to bring our products back across the border? Hell, might as well just keep making them here.”

If labor costs means people make a reasonable wage, then the company needs to look at what else is making their products so expensive (we have one, and yes they are). If it’s union wages we’re talking about, that’s an entirely different problem.

We need good middle class jobs. Enormous coup for PEDJT if he keeps Carrier here.

Agreed. Worker’s comp insurance increases labor costs by quite a bit.

Between SS&medicare, and all the insurances and other expenses, labor costs to a company can be double the salary paid. A $15/hr employee costs $30/hr.

We will do great as a nation walking each other’s dogs in the great service economy. Don’t worry about manufacturing.

Mexican investment bankers probably work a lot cheaper too.

Maybe the world should start developing Mexico City as a major financial center, too.

Make the import duties on Mexican-origin air conditioners equal for all manufacturers, and that won’t be a problem.

He doesn’t care who gets hurt, as long as he gets to buy stuff cheap.

IMO, the reason these companies want to move to Mexico is for one reason, UNION LABOR. Trump needs to work on that issue. If I had a unionized labor force I too would consider other options.

It’s a good thing Obama was lazy. If he worked hard, the US would be just like Venezuela!

I've often said that I'd rather have an incompetent idiot in charge of things than a competent idiot. The incompetent idiot doesn't even have the ability and sense to implement his insane agenda, and so he winds up inflicting less harm on us.

Not if they are taxed on every product sent to the US. They are destroying our economy by leaving and it is high time they learn a lesson. America First.

I would bet serious US dollars that Carrier will fold like a cheap suit.

With the POTUS breathing down your neck, and a super strong and tenacious one like Trump in particular, at the end of the day you have no choice.

What we want is for a Trump White House to work with Congress and the administrative state to change the tax and regulatory conditions such that Carriers best decision is to stay. And those same conditions encourage Apple to build their stuff here. And Ford and a million other companies.

I notice they didn’t tell us how many were dining — perhaps the outgoing 500 white mosque staff?

More, unless that number also includes Michael O’s entourage.

We would all be in camps right now.

Donald Trump has done more for America in the past 2 weeks than Obama has done in 8 years.
