The reviews were obviously from people who had not read the book, but from people who didn't like her.
As Amazon customers, my wife and I take the reviews seriously, as they impact our wallets.
Kudos to Amazon for trying to maintain integrity of their review system, although it usually is not that easy to spot abuse.
Although sometimes abuse is useful (Veet for Men).

The problem is that Amazon is not consistent in its approach
In some cases five star reviews are given to really bad books (presumably by friends and relatives or publishers or publicists?) to mislead potential buyers.
Amazon takes no action against those obviously phony reviews.
Amazon deletes certain types of comments "they" happen to notice and don't like.
I could write a book just about Amazon's very irritating book review "policies"!

I agree. When I’m considering buying a book, I take the reviews seriously, and I want them to be from people who read the book.
I’m mildly curious about Ms. Kelly’s book. I may get it from the library sometime.
