Hillary’s Last Gasp
American Thinker ^ | November 28, 2016 | Fred Lucas

Hillary Clinton would have to win a clean sweep of recounts in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania in order to overturn the election, and even her team concedes flipping one state is unlikely.

Nevertheless, the Clinton campaign is officially contesting the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. There is no other way to describe joining Green Party candidate Jill Stein’s effort to get recounts in the three states.

After the third presidential debate when Trump indicated he might not accept the outcome, Clinton said, “that is a direct threat to our democracy.” That’s when she thought she would win. Clinton is seemingly a passive participant in the recount effort, but after her attacks on Trump, she couldn’t exactly go all in. That doesn’t mean Stein is a stalking horse for Clinton, but this certainly allows the former secretary of state to challenge the outcome without appearing to threaten democracy.

Clinton campaign lawyer Marc Elias said in a post on Medium, “now that a recount has been initiated in Wisconsin, we intend to participate in order to ensure the process proceeds in a manner that is fair to all sides. If Jill Stein follows through as she has promised and pursues recounts in Pennsylvania and Michigan, we will take the same approach in those states as well.”

Or, translated: Not our idea, just along for the ride. But if it makes Hillary president, bonus.

It would have to be all or nothing for Hillary to become the first woman president. If just two states flip to Clinton, Trump still wins. For instance, suppose the two most populous states switch and Hillary wins Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes and Michigan’s 16, that would bring her to just 266 and Trump down to exactly 270.

Worst case scenario that's been making the rounds--neither party gets to 270, forcing Congress to vote on President and VP...

Conventional wisdom says that GOP-led Congress still votes in Trump/Pence, but that they're "discredited." I don't buy that--it wouldn't change the way Trump would govern, and it would likely put even more support behind Trump. Is there something more sinister planned?

I think they secretly know this entire effort will fail. They just want to use it as a way to delegitimize the Trump Presidency in the eyes of the public, so that over the next four years, with the help of the media, it can be painted as an “illegal” administration. Then in 2020 they’ll be better prepared to push their candidate. Don’t know who that will be, but doubtful it will be Hillary - they know she’s terrible.

People who are evil or truly insane lack a sense of self-awareness....Anyone who REALLY cares about the future of the Dem Party in this country is CRINGING at the recounts and protests.

This is a Soros-funded & controlled action, with useful idiot Jill Stein as the public face. Hillary is caught between denial & anger and has decided to jump aboard. Quixotic aim is to prevent submission of the results from WI, MI, & PA to Congress by the December 13th deadline.

It doesn’t take 270 to win, it takes a majority of the electoral votes CAST. If the WI votes aren’t cast due to the recount crap, then 265 min out of 528 will still win it for Trump. Likewise, take away PA and MI, then thats only 492 cast. A majority is 247. Trump still wins with 260.

Even better, this opens the door for Trump to call for a California recount. Go through the registrations state wide with a fine tooth comb. Identify every single illegal alien that voted. Deport them. Then move on to Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Illinois, etc.

Another gutless move by Crooked Hillary Clinton.

On Election Night, she couldn't face her supporters. So while she was privately conceding to Trump, she sent her proxy up on the stage (Podesta) to shoo everybody away. Now she evidently wants to have some states recounted and she doesn't even have the guts to ask for that herself. So once again she is looking to do so by proxy, by having some fringe candidate to the heavy lifting first so that she can piggyback onto it.

She is a very weak woman and totally unsuited for public office.

Here is the exact wording of the Twelfth Amendment on that point (emphasis is mine):

The person having the greatest Number of votes for President, shall be the President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed ...

The legal question here would be: What constitutes the "appointment" of a state's Electors -- when the state certifies its vote, or when the state is assigned a specific number of electoral votes for an election? That would make a huge difference for the scenario you presented.

TRUMP CARD

It’s coming folks.

Trump = a card of a suit which outranks all other suits in many trick taking games.

Take that your royal thighness.

Stein doesn’t have even the most remote chance of winning in any of these recount states so why is someone funding these recounts? Clearly the Clinton’s are behind this, but again even Hillary has little to gain with the recounts and could not win even if in the far off chance she could flip one of the recount states. This is not a replay of the 2000 election that hinged on a single state. So what is the purpose in spending these millions? Even in the most unlikely scenario that the recount delays the Electoral College vote and possibly throws the election into the House, Hillary still cannot win. So why is some like George Soros willing to throw millions at this bizarre recount that can go nowhere?
