I remember years ago before I retired, a third grader making a funny sarcastic remark about global warming. He knew it was a bunch of hooey. Afterwards he looked at me to see what my reaction would be, whether he would be getting a scold from his teacher. Not a chance. I smiled and gave him a wink.
“..whether he would be getting a scold from his teacher.”
My daughter, years ago in about 6th grade, would bring up stuff to debunk global warming at school. Her science teacher had us in and said something about how he was concerned that our daughter would get picked on for her views. Mom and I just laughed and said “Oh - she can take care of herself.”
Shortly after that meeting she had to do a poster-board. Of course she picked debunking global warming. Lots of science in it. (The teacher gave her an A!) She loves science, but she just doesn’t have the knack for numbers that is required. She does okay - but it is a HUGE effort for her.
