According to CNN’s Chris Cuomo, it is the media’s job to serve as the “opposition” to President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming administration.
On CNN’s New Day Wednesday morning, Cuomo vowed to oppose Trump’s policies, and stated he feels it is the job of the media as a whole to treat the next president of the United States with hostility.
Per Cuomo, “The media cannot yield. This administration is going to demand constant fact-checking and opposition.”
The CNN anchor, who is the brother of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and the son the of late New York Gov. Mario Cuomo, said the reason for his belief is, “Because otherwise, you don’t know which way it’s going to go from day to day. That’s just a fact.”
Cuomo made his comments during a discussion with New Day co-host Alisyn Camerota and CNN political director David Chalian.
Chalian was previously employed as the Washington bureau chief for Yahoo News, but was fired by the company in 2012 after he was caught on a hot-mic saying that Republican Party officials did not care if black people died during Hurricane Isaac.
The RNC held its 2012 convention in Tampa, as the powerful and unpredictable storm hugged the state’s western coast.
During a live web broadcast, Chalian said Republicans were “not concerned at all. They’re happy to have a party with black people drowning.”
Chalian was promptly hired by CNN less than a year later, and promoted to political director in 2014
CNN has dubbed by critics as the “Clinton News Network” for its perceived bias coverage promoting Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in her campaign against Trump.
Cuomo, who joined the network following the 2012 presidential election, falsely claimed in October that it was “illegal” for CNN viewers to read documents published by Wikileaks, many of which contained private conversations between members of Clinton’s presidential campaign and inner circle.
“Also interesting is, remember, it’s illegal to possess these stolen documents. It’s different for the media. So everything you learn about this, you’re learning from us,” he said.
It was not uncommon for Trump supporters to yell disparaging comments about CNN at Trump rallies during the campaign season.
Trump himself lashed out at CNN president Jeff Zucker during a meeting Monday with key figures at several news networks, reportedly saying to Zucker, “I hate your network, everyone at CNN is a liar and you should be ashamed.”
Yank this guy off the stage.
CNN unwittingly admits it is a RAT party propaganda tool. Maybe not so unwittingly, since it wasn’t a secret to start with.
Trump’s press secretary needs a subordinate whose ONLY job is media watchdog, pointing out bias and doing fact-checking of the media on a daily basis, and get that information straight to the American people.
Kinda like Bernie Goldberg.
And they need to figure a way around the press corps determining who is in the briefing room. As in bypassing them, until that job reverts back to POTUS.

Too bad he was a round-heeled sycophant for the last eight years. The press should always be baying at the heels of the President, even when he is a Democrat.
Wolf Blitzer’s performance on Jeopardy revealed how ignorant these people are. Cuomo’s probably believed that it’s illegal for members of the public to possess the stolen documents. “It’s different for the media.” Cuomo had his tongue in an unmentionable Obama crevice for the last eight years. They think they are so intelligent only because they faced no opposition because of their monopoly.
Watchdog does not equal opposition.
Watchdog observes reports and makes sure the laws are obeyed, the checks and balances work, there is an appropriate level of transparency, investigates, etc.
The press can be a watchdog and still be helpful to the Presidency.
Leave the opposition to the Democrats.
We need to ask every airport and bar/restaurant to change the channel
When the Prez is GOP, they shout, "Speak Truth to Power!"
When the Prez is a 'Rat, they switch to "Squelch Truth w/ Power".
And the MSM's attitude towards the White House, enforcing their doctrine of "Dissent is Treason" to purge non-compliance among their ranks, now becomes "Dissent is Patriotic" once again.
They feel this makes them even-handed and nonpartisan, the fact they can claim to spend equal time praising and vilifying the White House when seen in the long term. 8 years on and 8 years off ... equal time. How much fairer than that can you get? (The only exception to the 8...8...8...8 was with Carter&Reagan&Bush41, where it was 4 yrs praise, then 12 yrs vilification).
It's time for the Left to dig deep in their closets for their smelly old "Dissent is the Highest Form of Patriotism" tshirts they discarded 8 years ago.
CNN is just another broadcast channel of the Democrat party. It is a fake “news” channel.
