Why Trump's call to Taiwan may get a pass — this time — from China as a rookie mistake
CNBC ^ | 12/3/2016 | Christine Wang

President-elect Donald Trump on Friday broke with decades of U.S. diplomatic tradition in speaking with Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen, a seemingly innocuous call that started the relationship between two of the world's greatest powers on the wrong foot.

Trump's call, and the ensuing debate over its meaning, created an initial furor on both sides of the Pacific. Tsai's Democratic Progressive Party makes Beijing uncomfortable because of its official stance that Taiwan is independent and sovereign, rather than an extension of mainland China—the government's position that underpins the "One China" policy.

Yet foreign policy experts think the fallout on U.S.-Sino relations will be limited. Beijing is likely to attribute the move to inexperience — even as elements of the U.S.-Taiwan call were unorthodox in more ways than one.

Once again, the presstitutes see the present in the mirror of the past. They can’t visualize a future that is not a linear projection of the past.

In spite of being progressive, they can’t comprehend change, radical change

What, exactly, is wrong with talking to Taiwan?

And what can China do? The US holds the aces here in terms of trade, natural resources and naval power, especially with Japan figured in. Even the ruse that Taiwan is a breakaway province depends on US acquiescence. Trump is already taking Chinese chips off the table and he’s not even sworn in yet.

Trump has opened negotiations with China. China has responded. Both know how this is done. Both are doing it. The MSM reaction is part of China’s negotiation tactics as is the indignancy show.

The media never gets tired of piling lie on top of lie.

Something’s falsely reported as “A Big Deal!”, nothing comes of it- so they make up a false excuse.

Trump probably knows more money men/power brokers on both the mainland and Formosa than anybody in Washington. He’s been doing deals for years. He doesn’t need lectures from self-important foreign policy “experts” who never signed a single paycheck and wouldn’t know an international commercial contract document if it were thrust in their faces

No nation should be able to tell the USA who or who not we can speak. That is juvenile and demeaning, and any US diplomat allowing it to happen needs to be removed. This is a great nation and must act as such.

It’s going to be fascinating to watch how fast Trump is going to push his agenda forward. I truly expect DC to be flabbergasted at the speed he will work at come the 21st.

1. It makes Trump look Presidential to be stepping into international affairs like this.
2. By calling Taiwan and annoying China, it gives him more leverage to negotiate with China.
3. Since Taiwan is a major trading partner, a discussion with them is NOT out of bounds - and in fact could lead to more negotiation points with China.
4. China is run by adults who are going to play the PR game over it, instead of freaking out over it. Compared to them building islands to house military bases and floating ships through territorial waters, this is NOTHING.

The hysteria surrounding this sounds exactly like when Reagan said the USSR was an evil empire.
.............................................................
Maybe Trump will take the dumb dragon down a notch or too. He won’t let this episode go to waste even though he might just file it away for future reference. China has made a GIANT BOOBOO. Thety will pay dearly!
