AT&T Inc. will unveil its long-promised over-the-top video service Monday as the company attempts to get a foothold in the future of how Americans watch television.

The service, called DirecTV Now, will launch later this month and be priced starting at $35 a month for more than 100 live streaming television channels. Consumers, analysts and investors will be looking for specifics around possible pricing tiers, channel lineups and bundling options.

“The question remains the quality of the product and user experience,” said UBS analyst John Hodulik, who estimates the service will have three million users by the end of 2020, a 20% market share for such services.

I am happy with my TW package. $121.00/month plus fees and tax. 30 mps internet, phone, standard channel package, Epix and Showtime movies , settop box and DVR which can view/record 6 channels. Sweet. I am in an ATT uVerse area so TW holds my pricing.

KlowdTV, for $8/month, includes OANN and a few other channels. I just got it today (I purchased the OANN App a few weeks ago and I like their News Network. The KlowdTV App includes OANN a few other channels).

Thanks for the great info - much appreciated!

Surfed to the Sling website and saw how they have savings on Roku devices - 50% off the Premier+ which looks like the sweet spot in the device lineup.

Save for later. I thought the deal was $35/month until I read the fine print.

I have PlayStation Vue.

$40 (no tax) for 50 channels.. streams over Roku Stick, Amazon Fire Stick, or directly to TVs with Android TV

You can also stream multiple versions simultaneously

Excellent deal, IMO, as you’re watching on TV, not your IPhone or laptop

Still need a wifi connection of course

Agree.

They are doing like SlingTV, cable and satellite — still bundling. By the time one adds on the various tiers/bundles, their cost is nearing what they are currently paying.

The first one to go completely and fully ala carte could drive the others out of business.

Out of that 100 channels, I might watch 20. But I would still be paying for the other 80.

I have cable TV and Internet. I think I have to have at least basic TV in order to get Internet. I do like cable internet for its stability and speed. I currently get around 50 Mbps and they just upped the data upload/download from about 100 Gb per month to 1 Tb per month.

we have FireTV (the box not the stick), with sling and Netflix, and amazon prime- it rules. we got sling so hubby could watch football. that was all that was missing from cutting the cord years ago. They do have a trial so you can see what they have.

This is good news.

The only thing is you need at least 20mb of Internet speed. I think the nation wide average is 10mb of speed?

I expect all the other cable complines to do the same thing. So the price of TV should drop once the competition comes out.

AT&T is just the first to the gate. AT&T is just the first one there.

They should have the slight advantage with the NFL ticket.

https://www.cnet.com/news/directv-now-vs-sling-tv-vs-playstation-vue-channels-compared/

Channel list to compare DirecTV Now vs Sling TV vs Playstation Vue.

I already have Sling but I don’t think I’ll switch because 1) it’s not compatible with Roku, 2) the website is not compatible with Firefox and also not compatible with Windows 7.

I have PSVUE for $30/month and a few Roku’s to watch it. 55 channels, ESPN, discovery, HGTV etc. Basically the ones we watched the most on cable. No contract, love it.
