Al Gore just had ‘an extremely interesting conversation’ with Trump on climate change

As Donald Trump continues to indicate that he might be willing to change his position on climate change, which he has long called a “hoax,” the president-elect met Monday with former vice president Al Gore, who has become a prominent activist in the fight against global warming.

Gore was originally scheduled to meet just with Trump's oldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, who is not registered with a political party and has already pushed her father to adopt positions usually promoted by Democrats. Gore told reporters that after that meeting, he then had “an extremely interesting conversation” with the president-elect.

“I had a lengthy and very productive session with the president-elect. It was a sincere search for areas of common ground,” Gore told reporters after spending about 90 minutes at Trump Tower in Manhattan during the lunch hour Monday. “I had a meeting beforehand with Ivanka Trump. The bulk of the time was with the president-elect, Donald Trump. I found it an extremely interesting conversation, and to be continued, and I'm just going to leave it at that.”

Trump has repeatedly called climate change a “hoax” and has even accused the Chinese government of creating this fake problem to steal manufacturing jobs from the United States. But Trump seemed to soften that position during a meeting with the New York Times late last month, saying that he would keep an “open mind” on the issue and acknowledging that human activity might be connected to changes in the climate.

Ivanka Trump is one of the most influential people in Trump's life and is a member of his transition team, although she has said she does not plan to take an active role in her father's administration. Her husband, Jared Kushner, is one of Trump's most trusted aides, and the couple are reportedly house-hunting in Washington.

Don’t be surprised if Trump talks to any & every influential person. He’s gauging what influence he can make use of.

Except that Al Gore has already demonstrated his contempt for the Constitution, that he is a vapid know-nothing and that he will sell principles (as he defines it anyway) to the highest bidder. There is nothing that can be learned from Al Gore other than he is a dangerous, pompous fool and it does not require a personal meeting with him to know this.

That's my take on this too. I would not have met with Gore. That said, I still take Trump at his word, that he thinks AGW is a hoax.

Actually nothing he’s done since getting elected has disturbed me until this meeting. Other than “President-elect Trump” I can’t see a smart reason for this meeting. But I’ll reserve judgment.

I hope this is just Trump trying to staunch the liberal tears which were causing the oceans to rise.

Part of enjoying DJT's global assault on the elitist power establishment is appreciating his sense of humor. Jill Stein was outside Trump Tower this AM. Meanwhile, Gore was invited for discussions about the environment.

The other fun fact today is Dr. Carson heading HUD. Do the anti-trumps sound insane saying that a man who rose from an impoverished inner city environment to the pinnacle of greatness isn't qualified to improve impoverished urban environments?

The whole world is on edge about something as formerly mundane as a President Elect choosing his cabinet. As he does it, he is driving his opponents to the depths of insanity.

With all that in mind, Al Gore visiting Trump Tower is just wonderful.

If AlGore’s ears were not bleeding when he left the building, then it wasn’t very fruitful.

His meetings will not bother me. Until I see actions, I wont judge him by who he meets with.

You learn nothing by only meeting with people who agree with you.

Like the Japanese Emperor in WWII. He had surrounded himself with so many yes-men he thought they were winning the war, until he started waking up to find some of his cities were missing.

Keep in mind that this is Washington Post, a notorious fake news website. We cannot assume what they claim happened is true.

“I had a lengthy and very productive session with the president-elect. It was a sincere search for areas of common ground,”

The “common ground” is the ice in the artic that was supposed to be all gone according to his science fiction sleeper: “An Inconvenient Truth.”

DJT please tell Ivanka to find another cause.

Ummm - we’ve all had a belly full of “positions usually promoted by Democrats”, Ivanka.

In all due respect to you, please put these liberal ‘issues’ on the shelf and let your father do what needs to be done, namely, draining the swamp, stopping and reversing the illegal invasion, revving up the economy, restoring the military to its former greatness, and ridding us of the idiotic, destructive, and nonsensical political correctness that has plagued us for decades.

In short, returning us to our rightful place in the world as the land of the free; the home of the brave.

Your father was overwhelmingly supported for President for one reason: to rid us of the poison the Democrats rammed down our throats over the last 15 years.

I agree with you in principle. In this case though, I so deeply detest and distrust Gore it’s hard to stay objective! I’ll watch and wait:)

Considering Trump’s status, any conversation with him would be interesting.

Maybe Trump enlightened the Gorecle? Note of course that it wasn't Trump saying he had an 'interesting conversation' with Gore....

Every time I see or hear Gore I am reminded of the scene in the movie “Brother O Where Art Thor” where the corrupt Mississippi governor is conferencing with his campaign manager & his son about the “threat” from the “reform candidate”. The son replies, “Daddy can we get some of that “reform” and we can be the “reform candidate too”. The old man then proceeds to call the son an idiot & beat him with his hat. That’s how I imagine dinner conversations went with Al Gore Sr to Al Gore Jr.

I hope Trump told Gore to shove that iceberg where the sun don’t shine (so that it won’t melt and flood the world).

If you're going to reconnoiter the enemy, you don't make a public show of it. All that Trump is accomplishing with this stunt is breathing life back into ManBearPig while making us look like idiots for voting for him.
