Regardless, tariffs are not the answer for businesses fleeing the country because they don’t attack the root causes of why businesses are leaving in the first place.
Lowering taxes would be the first and fastest step, but you still have to account for finished products coming into the ports.
Or we could have one giant welfare state.
I think what is being said is that “high” tariffs are a temp solution until this great country gets back on its feet. But once this is accomplished, adjust the tariffs to sustain our manufacturing and jobs market, not destroy them once again.
