The market needs to change to al la carte.

Let me pay for the channels I WANT to watch. And not for the 78 other
channels I don’t want to watch.

It's changed, sort of. I got my choice of the channels I wanted most along with about an equal number I didn't want. In addition, there were many more channels that I was blocked from receiving. Internet and TV for $122/month (sans phone) from Cox. Too much!

What a racket!
The cable Mafia get paid by the zillion channels we ignore, including the illegals channels.

Then we get to pay them all over again?

THEY SHOULD BE PAYING US!

As for the sports jocks?
If they all disappeared tomorrow it may be years before I notice a thing...
OK... maybe crime and suicides going up...

Yes..as TV critic Steve Beverly puts it, “’Grandma’ is stuck paying for a whole bunch of channels she doesn’t want to watch.”
Big corporations that own these channels—and Comcast owns NBC—make deals;if you want to carry a certain channel, you also gotta carry these channels..
Used to be a lot of baseball was on free TV.Then came the regional networks like
NESN in New England (Red Sox).NESN used
to be optional, $10 per month. Then it went to expanded basic, whether you wanted it or not.

Only Red Sox games on free tv are occasional Fox games and SOME playoffs
(World Series...) Now there’s a chance
that some games may wind up on WHDH TV 7..currently NBC but losing affiliation by Jan 1 and going independent as NBC launches its own NBCBoston channel.
