Oh this just keeps getting better and better!
So much winning...
It’s about time they got rid of defined benefit plans. The private sector made that shift years ago.
So much swamp here
I live in Maryland. For those of you who aren’t near the Washington DC swamp - there was NO recession here. Federal jobs and federal contractor jobs have been booming the entire time. I think over half of the richest counties in the country are DC suburbs. Many houses around the DC beltway go for over a million dollars (google Chevy Chase or Potomac Maryland).
And don’t call it a “workforce”, which would imply they work. They’re “employees”, not “workers”. They are ENCOURAGED to “work from home” certain days. They cut out of work early every Friday. Generous vacation packages. Insane retirement packages. Imagine the space ship in “Wall-E” and you get a pretty good idea.
the first thing he needs to do is get the guns and ammo out of the hands of non-leo bureaucrats.
so all those idiots that said they will quit if Trump won may get fired anyway
And I agree that the US Government needs to move to a defined contribution plan for all Federal workers AND congress.
One exception: Military retirees can stay on a defined benefit plan.
80%.
“it would likely mean big changes to the generous retirement benefits given federal workers, mainly by looking to shift new employees from a defined benefit into a market-based 401(k).”
I’m somewhat confused by this statement. I worked as a civilian for the Department of Defense (DoD), then retired. President Reagan made the change they are talking about. So that change took place for the DoD about 20 years ago. I always assumed that it applied for pretty much the entire Federal workforce.
Nearly all federal employees are under a 401(k) type system already. It is called the Thrift Savings Plan.
But, part of their retirement is still based on defined benefit plans.
Oh, please, please, please, rescind JFK’s executive order enabling unionization in government.
Decertifying the SEIU would be YUGE.
Agreed.
Government jobs were originally classified as “public service”. Instead of service it has become nothing more than a “public works program” for minorities, immigrants, homosexuals and other assorted morons who reliably vote Democrat and are too stupid, lazy or worthless to obtain gainful employment in the public sector.
Time to drain the swamp.
I’m actually very interested and excited to see how much wait times decrease at he DMV if/when Trump follows through with this. Suspect the customer service will increase 100 fold when their jobs are no longer guaranteed.
The government employees will be the toughest force to overcome in making America great again. They are ingrained in all the bureaucracies, except perhaps the FBI, they are overpaid and under performing and they have one powerful union to protect them.
YES
“Working for the government shouldn’t be a ticket to ride.”......
Hope the law gets changed so it effects ALL government workers including the lawmakers, the ones who have created this mess.
Orderly move many jobs out of the DC area to the states. Even concentration of power, lobbyists, and contractors. With technology they do not need all the staffing and support staff to be in the DC area. DC voted 93% for Clinton. NoVA and Maryland suburbs almost as bad in their patterns. ALl feeding at the trough.
Let some of the contract managers work in Minot, ND or Ketchikan Alaska.
To start, cut 500,000 government bureaucrats just prior to Christmas!
Let um get a taste of what Middle America have be forced to deal with for over 2 decades now.
