John Kelly are likely to be tapped for secretary and deputy secretary of homeland security, according to a top transition official familiar with the president-elect's current thinking, but the source would not reveal which of the two men is favored for the top post and which is likely to be deputy secretary.

President-elect Trump has met separately with Kobach and Kelly. The agency will play a major role in implementing the ambitious immigration policies of his administration.

Duncan Hunter Sr. would have been better, but Kobach is a very solid choice.

This better be true. However, look for Graham, McCain and Flake to lead a jihad to defeat Kobach in the Senate, which will likely succeed in stopping him. They want McCaul instead, who would be a disaster on immigration.

Would like to see Sheriff Joe Arpaio as a Special Advisor with these 2.

That is what I've read and heard - I hope he gets the post. Many of us voted for Trump because of his strong position against illegal immigration and building the border wall - it would be a great sign if he appoints Kobach.

Indeed!

It is probably a no-brainer, but my money says Trump will see the wisdom in placing Gen kelly in the lead, with Kobach covering his (and the nation's) legal 6.

USMC Generals are often uncomfortable following the lead of a 30'ish appearing whiz kid. In this regard, Kobach is 40 years old, a law professor, an immigration litigator and legislator but will appear to be in his early 30's for quite a while to come.

Will make a dynamic and effective team in such a configuration. If the RINO's can't deal with Kobach, Trump will no doubt install an impressive work-around.

Kris Kobach has a Sunday evening radio show

http://www.kcmotalkradio.com/2014/03/24/the-kris-kobach-show/ and a Kansas Secretary of State YouTube channel

He will be a huge loss to Kansas.

!'d be placing my money on Kris on this one.

McCain has slowed down considerably and other than his infamous "hair trigger temper" and "foul mouth," there's not much there there.

Flake truly is a flake and looks to McCain to lead on such things.

As to Linda Graham, well, he did serve as a JAG officer, but my money is on a Harvard, Yale and Oxford graduate who is a prominent Constitutinal scholar and professor, who served as number two under John Ashcroft in the GWB administration and who has argued and won cases before the US Supreme Court!

Could very easily happen since he's available now but the guy is in his mid to upper 80s, he might be looking to take a few weekends off, now and again!

Like Trump, Arpaio is a ball of fire and just keeps on ticking!

FWIW, he was 40 the last time I saw him (and tricky math puzzles obviously are not my strong suit).

If Trump picks Kobach as Sec. of DHS, then he’s hit another grand slam homer (like he did with Sessions). Got my fingers crossed.

Is anyone else sick of the word ‘tapped’ as me? You choose people, you tap sugar maples.
