His name is Preet Bharara. His beat is the Southern District of New York. He has simultaneously taken out the leadership of the NYS legislature in longtime and heretofore untouchable (and Clinton ally) Speaker of the Assembly Sheldon Silver, and Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos. Currently he has two high profile prosecutions ongoing as the circle continues to grow ever smaller around NY Governor Cuomo. In one, Bharara has charged SUNY Polytechnic Institute President Alain Kaloyeros, the head of the NYS nanotechnology effort, with bid rigging causing a cascade of ousters within the nanotech leadership. In the other, he has charged Joseph Percoco, closest aide to the Governor and a man Cuomo himself calls a third son of the Cuomo family, in a pay for play scheme for access to Cuomo. Bharara has also been retained by the incoming POTUS, a man known for thinking moves ahead. Watch out Clinton machine. Time is running short. |
