A federal judge in Detroit has called a hearing for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday to consider whether Michigan's presidential recount should continue after an unfavorable ruling by a state appeals court. U.S District Judge Mark Goldsmith's order allowed the recount to begin Monday, but his decision dealt with the timing, not the merits of the count. On Tuesday, a Michigan appeals court ordered the state's election board to reject Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein's petition for the recount, finding that she had no chance of emerging as the winner in the state. Goldsmith's hearing on Wednesday could sort out whether the recount will be able to go forward or be halted.

No way she is an aggrieved candidate. It’s not possible she thought the result would be in her favor. Were I the judge, I’d reprimand her for rather obviously attempting to stall in order to endanger certification of the election simply because she did not like the results. Worse, it could be for money and/or to carry water for another of the candidates.
In any case, I’d order her to pay for all resulting work both precinct and legal.
Bingo. If he orders recount to continue, you will see heads explode.
If nothing else, it clarifies all the confusion of other conflicting reports...
The GOP has two court orders in hand to bring to today's hearing. One is the state court ruling that Stein is not aggrieved, and therefore has no ability to obtain a recount. The second is an opinion from the 6th Circuit, the federal district court judge's "superior" court, which asserts the federal courts will follow the state court ruling on the availability of recount.
As you know, so just saying this for others, The federal judge holding this hearing is the same one that based his first order on the premise that an election is not legitimate unless it is recounted, a dubious position on its face. My hat is off to the 6th Circuit judges who issued their opinion, to include in it that the question of recount or not is decided by state law, not federal con law.
I do agree, if this judge doubles down and basically ignores what his superior said, the GOP will go back to the 6th Circuit and ask it to ORDER the federal district court judge to stop the recount.
Stein was playing with an asinine definition of "aggrieved candidate."
Stein and her handlers are just arrogant enough to take the case there, as well as petitioning SCOTUS to reverse the 6th Circuit.
Apparently, the left is panicking as the recount is showing a lot of cheating in liberal strongholds.
What’s the point of being a liberal if you have to obey the law? Liberals are above the law.
Why do you claim the left is panicking?
Let us all bow to the federal blackrobe, like this is even an issue. This entire ordeal is nothing but a phony promotional and the black robes bask in the limelight pretending to be so important. Makes me want to puke.
The left is panicking because Hillary is going to lose a lot of votes in a recount and make Trump’s margin of victory even greater.
Absent clear, demonstrable violations of law, exactly what authority/oversight does the FedGuv have in this?
Congress will decide the election. It will be a mess.
Let us lack forgiveness for the people who are putting the nation through this.
Is there really a ‘rule of law’ in this country anymore?””
No, no, no and no there is not. There is selective enforcement of the law for political reasons. We have 10 million illegal aliens and no judge, no AG does anything about it. In fact, they order violations of our laws by giving them benefits. Check with the Lynch bitch if you don’t believe it.
-—Is there really a ‘rule of law’ in this country anymore?-—
No, we are afflicted with the TYRANNY of lawyers
Without the 6th, they will need Kennedy.
It's always worth rolling the dice with Kennedy if you have nothing to lose.
Stein’s party can easily be held liable.
On what basis? She won there! The 6th upheld the district court ruling that recounting should occur without delay, in contravention of state law that says recounting is delayed for a time that allows a state court to weigh in.
Today will be the first time, as far as I know, that the district court will directly confront the issue of recount or not, after a state court has declared "no recount." If she loses that, it will be a new issue to take to the 6th Circuit.
No, there is no “rule of law” in the USA anymore. The law operates on two levels, the ordinary people and the rich. The rich decide which rules or laws they want to obey and mostly they don’t want to and the ordinary people better kow tow to all who carry out the policing of the laws.
There are a number of papers written about this aspect of our “laws” and application. When that kid fled to Mexico because his family had enough money to get him there, the “affluenza case”, a number of articles and papers were published.
In my personal opinion, there is no “equality before the law” and if you get arrested you should just grovel or your punishment will get worse. What do you think?
And for heaven’s sake, let’s not forget Teflon Hil-iary-y and here equally coated minions.
Michigan Law lets likely vote fraud stand in a recount. It just can’t be further enhanced.
Except all will not see.
If I surveyed 1000 random people on the street, maybe 2 would know about the recount. And both of them would likely be Freepers.
