I used to live in Ithaca. You are right...walk outside and look at a point a mile off in the distance. Then ponder an ice sheet that thick over your head. It is mind-boggling.

I'm a big fan of Robert Felix's writing "Ice Age Now". He does a fine job of documenting the multiple astronomical physical cycles that drive the periodic ice age cycle. Valentina Zharkova did an interesting paper on dual magnetic dynamo behavior on the sun that predicts the period 2030 to 2040 to have minimum activity similar to the Maunder Minimum. The dual dynamos will be 180 degrees out of phase during sunspot cycle 26.

Right. But what causes El Nino and La Nina ? There is no significant extra visible light energy arriving from the sun to cause El Nino warming. If they claim it is CO2 caused, why is it cyclic and what causes a lowering of temperature (La Nina).

Not being flippant, but you’ll have to ask God what causes El Nino and La Nina. Even large scale glacial stages that last for thousands of years are related to a multitude of constructive and destructive interferece cycles.

Everything has causation and we actually know what causes La Nina and El Nino. Equatorial trade winds. When strong, La Nina. When weak, El Nino. Now what causes these trade wind changes ? Pressure differences between the Eastern Pacific and Western Pacific. These are all known scientific facts.
