Why Donald Trump’s Constant Twitter Battle With The Media Is A Brilliant Strategy
The Federalist ^ | 12/7/16 | David Danford

One might understand this best in terms of John Boyd’s famous OODA Loop. Used by military tacticians, the Observe, Orient, Decide, and Act loop describes the cycle in which opponents operate during a fight. Whoever can cycle more quickly gains the initiative and controls the fight. Whoever cycles more slowly remains off-balance, constantly having to re-observe and re-orient to circumstances dictated by the enemy.

The media cycles more slowly. Trump retains initiative by constantly feeding their hysteria and confusion with a steady diet of controversial tweets. Each new tweet grabs their attention and they restart the process. Like clockwork, every 24 to 48 hours, just as the hysteria is winding down, Trump releases a new comment to spool the media back up. And all the while Trump is moving on.

With their heads spinning, Trump’s opponents cannot see what they themselves are doing. The media cannot avoid talking about Trump all of the time, and each tweet drives a wedge between them and the American people.

The MSM is the Country’s greatest threat.

Well, they're on the run now! For the time being, that is.

I don’t see how DJT’s strategy of ignoring the MSM is anything like a “battle.”

Well, he's a ball of fire. I've said this all along.

Trump has certainly helped TWTR stock. It was left for dead months ago after no one would buy them, but as Twitter became front and center with Trump, the stock has rebounded tremendously

Perhaps the wrong word, but look at it this way. The press, maybe more than any other profession, depends on being noticed. If everybody ignores, for example, a farmer or an optical engineer, both can continue their livelihoods with no negative effects. If everyone ignores the press, they’re out of business.

There will be a constant battle of the media against any Republican president. The only question is whether the president fights back - and it looks like Trump will.

Trump is making the press obsolete.

I think what he’s doing is taking the press apart, only to put it back together again as something like it should have been all along.

The NY Times reported 95% drop in revenue. CNN is now rated below MSNBC. Washington Post should be dropping too, he’s been hitting them pretty hard.

He’s taking them apart, by going over their heads,m as the cartoon suggests. who needs the press when he can use Twitter and go directly to his audience, and they get the unfiltered truth, rather than the propaganda not enough people know they are getting.

As more people pay attention to social media, more people also find out they are being fed propaganda by the press, and the press is less relevant by the day.

Once it all falls apart, he can rebuild it without a lot of trouble, and simply tell them, OK tell the truth this time.

I doubt if printed newspapers will ever come back. Too easy to get online and get it through digital means, and it doesn’t kill thousands of trees. Many stores are already offering online coupons, fewer paper ones in your mailbox every day. Newspapers will see the same trend, the Internet will eventually be their death knell. They can switch to an online format or die a slow death.

TV news will stick around a lot longer, but internet news via youtube will take a chunk out of their viewer base, and Trump going around them via social media will eventually force them to start being a lot more honest.

He’s doing this for a reason, and with a purpose. It’s not accidental, it’s not random, it’s not unintended.

Never underestimate Donald Trump.

Trump is running circles around the bozos and bobbleheads in the DNC’s national “media”. I love it.

His first interview should be with Leonardo DiCaprio, a well known ‘journalist.’

Here is the money quote from the article that I have been trying to evangelize on this forum wth my limited prose:

"It is possible that I am giving Trump too much credit. But I think any assumption that Trump is unaware or that he acts without intention should be suspect at this point. After all, he did just accomplish one of the most impressive political victories in American history. One does not defeat every contender in both major political parties—in the face of the power of almost every major institution and office on Earth—without being astute, aware, and deliberate."

The LSM is going to look incredibly stupid for 8 years

Your quote from the article is pretty much the same as what I said.

>>He’s doing this for a reason, and with a purpose. It’s not accidental, it’s not random, it’s not unintended.<<

But he probably said it better than I did...well, he used more words anyway...

I was thinking this morning that Trump should keep this up on the political front as well. By moving so fast from issue to issue, he is preventing the media from concentrating on anyone thing.

He should do the same to opposition in the congress. Everyone is thinking about how his first 100 days will go and how many bills he’ll have to fight through Congress. Instead, he should work with his supporters in Congress to put together a set of small bills to accomplish EVERYTHING on his agenda — from tax cuts to repeal of Obamacare. Put those bills together NOW, behind the scenes, and quietly publish them just three days before the inauguration. Have the votes all lined up so they can be passed as a package by both houses the morning of the inaugural, and have him SIGN them in a surprise move immediately after he is sworn in. Same for his EOs rescinding Obama’s EOs — as soon as he is sworn in, have a desk pulled out on the balcony in front of the audience, whip out a sheaf of them and sign them all in front of the inaugural audience.
