Kellyanne Conway, senior advisor to President-elect Trump, confirmed Monday that she had turned down an offer to serve as press secretary for the incoming White House, a role she described as critical given that the eventual spokesman will face a "hostile press."
"I have politely declined that job," Conway said Monday morning on the "Hugh Hewitt Show" radio program. "I think it's an incredibly important position to fill."
Although the Associated Press had previously reported that Conway rejected an offer to serve as press secretary, her admission Monday marked the first time she had confirmed so publicly.
"As you can imagine, if it's President Trump's administration, communications will be a very important aspect of it, and there will be a number of people handling that," she said.

She is much more valuable to DJT elsewhere in his administration.
She is too capable of a person for that level position.
So Christie, Rudy and Kelly ALL turned down job offers?
That’s odd.
And how the heck did Reince slip in to a position of hiring folk?
Ah, it will all work out.
I don’t know where Press Secretary falls in the White House pecking order but it seems to me that Kellyanne deserves and is capable of a much higher level of responsibility.
That position is the lowest of the low anyway, who would want it? It’s like a “super weenie pee-wee hut junior” administration position
Agreed.
What press is there to report to?
I really want Sarah Palin, but Laura Ingraham is probably the best fit for the job. She does not want it but said she would reluctantly serve if needed that badly.
Kellyanne can be the outside-the-white-house voice who can push a potential idea and gauge the public opinion before it is the official position. Also she can run her own consultancy and make considerable money - more than a government salary with limitations on her future employment.
Sarah Palin needs to focus on her family. Frankly, her time has passed. The media have made her a caricature.
What if they have no press secretary?
What if they have a website?
To be lumped in with the likes of Josh Earnest and Jay Carney? I don’t blame her.
> I really want Sarah Palin, but Laura Ingraham is probably the best fit for the job.
I still hold out for Ann Coulter.
Liberals would freak out every day at press conference time.
Agree. She needs to run the national organization to take over the GOP away from the globalists and pedos.
Laura Ingrham would do a much better job. She’s ruthless and telegenic.
Yeah, she also has 4 kids, a big house, and a husband with a high powered lawyer job. It would mean uprooting the family to DC and shutting down her polling business.
This way she can play a major role for Trump running an outside super-pac, keep her lucrative polling business, and keep the family in NY.
It’s really a win-win for HER, not necessarily the best move for Trump though. He would do well to listen to her guidance in the WH.
Who would want to deal with the MSM white house egos and their BS every day?
it would be an awful job.
Agreed.
Christie was passed over for VP, and (if you believe the press) was told at the time he’d get AG. Then he was passed over for AG. They offered him another position like Homeland Security or an advisory role, but he didn’t want it. I can’t blame him in the sense that he was with Trump from the beginning.
Rudy wanted SOS, and he should have gotten it as he is capable and was loyal. Instead, Romney and others were thrown into the mix, and Rudy ended up removing his name. IMO, Rudy deserved the spot. When that tape came out, he was the only one that went on the shows that weekend and defended Trump. A more loyal friend Trump couldn’t have.
Huckabee was offered something, but he said it wasn’t a good fit. That’s disappointing to me. I wonder what it was.
