Kurt Eichenwald has a history of dubious ethics.

When he was with the New York Times in 2005 or so, he violated journalistic ethics by paying the subject of a piece on underage porn--a young man who performed via webcam--at least $2K.

The Times was furious--he never told them, and you just don't pay sources for info. Not if you're a real journalist.

It later came out that Eichenwald probably paid the young man even more.

Here's a link to a Slate article from 2007. http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/press_box/2007/03/eichenwalds_weird_checkbook_journalism.html

Thanks for the info.

I wonder whether after this latest episode, MSNBC will rethink having this obviously disturbed man as a regular contributor. I’d say it’s even odds that they double down on him!
