I just can’t get into the A Cappella groups. I like it as a curiosity, kinda like a funny video of a cat or dog, but then I’m past it. I actually much more enjoy “instrument only” music more than “voice only” music. Though I like it best when they are merged together, whether it be Bing Crosby, Led Zeppelin or Beethoven’s 9th.

The best Christmas albums I know are two that were made by the Robert Shaw Chorale: "Christmas Hymns and Carols, Vol 1 &2".

They originally came out as '78's in the late 1940's but were re-mastered for LP's in the mid -1950's. The songs feature some well-knowns, but mostly contain traditional carols from continental Europe that go back hundreds of years in some cases.

Robert Shaw's arrangements are unmatched. There is some orchestral but much is sung acapella - as many traditional carols were.
