Donald Trump struggling to secure talent to perform at inauguration
Fox News ^ | December 22, 2016 | Blanche Johnson

Getting singers for Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20th is turning out to be harder than it was to fill his Cabinet.

The only confirmed talent so far are 16-year-old "America’s Got Talent" 2010 runner-up Jackie Evancho and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

"Who?" you say?

Exactly.

Many performers -- some who have been asked, others who have not -- have already said no to performing at the inauguration.

- Gene Simmons' wife told TMZ KISS "politely declined" the invitation to perform at the inauguration. Simmons said he would be touring Europe at the time.

- Trump's longtime friend Steve Wynn reportedly promised to deliver Celine Dion to perform at the inauguration, but could not follow through.

- Producer David Foster released a statement “politely declining” the offer to participate in the inauguration after rumors swirled he was participating.

- Elton John told the New York Times he was not performing after Anthony Scaramucci, a member of the presidential transition team, told the BBC the singer would sing a song or two.

- Page Six reported that Andrea Bocelli will not perform because of the backlash he received over accepting the gig. They also reported that President-Elect Trump suggested the tenor not participate because of said backlash.

- Variety and the NY Post have reported that Garth Brooks will not perform at the inauguration after he said earlier this month he "would be honored" to perform. Brooks did not return FOX411’s request for comment.

- The manager for the band Chainsmokers had to respond to New York Magazine’s Brian Feldman after he tweeted the band was performing. They are not.

This is of course a contrast from a Crooked Hillary Clinton coronation. Celebrities would have been lining up for access and bowing to kiss the pantsuit. Oh what a glorious coronation it would have been! The establishment would have rejoiced with glee!

Meanwhile, we have the tolerant left striking again. I am of course a deplorable person per Hillary Clinton, but if I were an entertainer, I would be willing to perform at the Inauguration of any President, even one with whom I disagree. It would be an honor to even be asked. Meanwhile, the tolerance crowd will only perform for a person with whom they agree with. Perhaps there are some who would perform but don't want backlash from liberal fans.

All that said, I really don't care. This election was a repudiation of the establishment, and the music industry/Hollywood is clearly part of that. They really showed this election that they are out of touch with flyover country. Trump's supporters don't care either. We don't need those people, and we proved it on election day. Hillary's band of celebrities did nothing but help her run up the popular vote in California and New York.

My advice to Trump (in the .01% chance he or his people come across this) is the following. Trump has business and TV experience. He knows there is a lot of untapped talent out there. It's talent that is as good as anything in the mainstream, but it's people who, for whatever reason (maybe because they are conservative), haven't gotten their big break. Now some of these people won't perform for Trump because they are liberal and are hoping for their big break (they would see this as an a possible road block). Others, however, are independent or conservative and would be willing to give it a shot. A conservative, for example, sees how difficult it is for a conservative to get a career in the big label music industry/Hollywood. Look into that pool of people. Use this to give the little guy a big break. Bring in talented people who haven't gotten a chance and/or from smaller labels and give them a shot. It will be average, ordinary Americans, not usual cadre of people from the music industry/Hollywood. Who knows? Maybe we'll discover the next big thing, and that person might garner a following from Trump's sizable base.

Looks like Hillary’s show business supporters are the real deplorables...and a few other things.

Liberal artists won’t perform.
Conservative artists that still depend on sales are too smart to perform at an overtly political event.

That leaves him retired conservative acts that don’t care about public opinion.

It leaves him with independent and conservative artists who haven’t yet gotten their big break. It doesn’t have to be big name stars.

When superstars move on, others take their place. It’s the cycle of life.

Maybe Mike Huckabee can get some people who used to appear on his show to work the inaugural. of course, that probably means Mike Huckabee would be playing bass.

Get the military performing groups. They have wonderful singing groups and bands.

It would be great and patriotic!

Most people, who voted for Trump wool rather see a brass band or the military bands anyway.

The artists who refuse to perform are telling us what they think of the American people.

George Clinton (The only Clinton who still has a gig.)

Jeanette MacDonald & Nelson Eddy (Indian Love Call as a shout out to Lizzie Warren)

I wonder if they asked Trace Atkins the country star that was a winner or runner up on Celebrity Apprentice.

Oh history will have fun with all of this. Trump goes down as one of the most successful and loved Presidents of all time, but at his inauguration nobody would play music for him.....

FYI folks, I’ve decided after living in the USA for nearly my entire life, to get my citizenship. I wanna jump on this MAGA bandwagon ya know....

Those, like Bocelli, who were harassed into not performing are regretable, but I understand their decision. But as far as the rest are concerned, not having leftist `entertainers` at the inauguration is a badge of honor.
