Idiots. What were they thinking?
Exactly right. This was needless.
Amen to that.
A good nuking might not be a bad thing! /s
Yea, it’s super hilarious.
Should read Cod Emperor!
He has intimate knowledge on that subject.
What an idiotic tweet for a political communications professional to put out there.
I wonder, is Sean Spicer still in cbarge of their communications?
The tide of hate built up in the willfully ignorant by the political/media complex is a little concerning. It will break apart on the rock of reason soon enough unfortunately some innocents are also going to get wet.
Fake media is outraged at Trump today because _______
Merry Christmas
Amen.
If it does not remember “No King but Jesus...” then it does not remember its own social history.
The official government charter does not designate an office of king or even state that it is going to worship God.
This was held to be a social function, which is outside of the rightful bailiwick of the government.
However does that mean that people can’t, or aren’t supposed to, carry their beliefs into the government? There is no such thing as a blank slate of belief in this context. There are only “non religious” slates of belief.
Historically, it was not until court decisions expanded on the idea of 1st amendment rights to keep the free exercise of religion from swaying government activity, that the question came up.
God help America, literally. There will have to be a sane resolution to such questions or there will forever be aimless wrangles over government and what we know as religious beliefs.
However, I feel like mentioning something. I think the “gay marriage” decision finally baited the bull a bit more than it was willing to tolerate. If irreligiosity (or twisted religiosity) gets to influence the direction of American politics (and face it, the USSC operations ARE politics, and have been so since Marbury v. Madison) then why can’t religiosity do so, too? The belief in equality was stressed to the breaking point. It could not even sustain itself.
This is talking about a spiritual king, not a political king, and it’s an empirical statement, not a prescriptive statement, and it happens to be true!
I thought this was a question as old as the bible.
Maybe the Gordian knot can be cut by a USSC decision basically saying that no, it is not forbidden for “religious beliefs” to sway policies in the USA.
Our poor, poor atheists would have an apoplexy, but it’s about time we took this bull by the horns. It will keep goring us more and more, if we do not.
America may not, but ALL Americans will eventually bend their knee to the King of Kings. But what’s your point — are you some lib hack?
But again, we got to remember... once we’ve turned America officially loose to worship God (which wasn’t deemed the same as “establishing a religion” which historically meant some analogy to the state church of England), America had jolly well better remember who God is, or it will see a spectacular fall as it begins to pursue a false God. Right now, it is becoming more and more and more obvious who God is.
This was a problem in ancient Israel as well. One generation would repent and Israel went gangbusters. The next generation was indifferent or hostile, and down it went. Officially secular institutions are a little more stable historically, but at the cost of being less responsive to God.
At any rate, the stakes are dramatically raised now. This is not penny ante spirituality any more. Heaven (and hell) has become REALLY interested in America now.
Try not to be too hard on doubters (the bible says to have mercy on those who doubt).
We are looking at an intricate logical needle threading exercise here. We need to (personally) lean on God to keep the threading operation going.
I believe it will need a large burst of divine grace to loosen up America’s current fear-based uptightness about “religion” enough to solve these problems. I also think it’s going to happen. God doesn’t charge up to the door of hell to say oops, it was just a mistake.
Good going Reince. That was brilliant !
