My suggestion is that you check TASK MANAGER (must also pick SHOW ALL TASKS FROM ALL USERS) and see if there is a SVCHOST.EXE using up all the CPU time.
If so, then TURN OFF WINDOWS UPDATE. On my computer, Windows update was SCANNING for NEW UPDATES every TENTH OF A SECOND.
Once I turned it off.... viola... no more slow computer.
What is it that you could not do? A link?

Get another cheap laptop to freep with. Keep the hosed laptop disconnected from the internet until you can figure out what is wrong with it.

I already have a cheap laptop that will do the trick. Not in the best shape but thanks for reminding me. I don’t get this at all. Maybe it’s Windows 10. I haven’t even looked at porn in years! Maybe Victoria’s secret online every now and then. So it can’t be malware from any malicious sites unless there is malware on regular websites now.
Not sure I agree that they did "nothing with it". They passed "stimulus" packages for the two years that contained 40 years worth of every Democrat/Socialist wet dream they had. STILL costing us dearly.

and i read that windows 10 has an issue with constant updating!! i would have never gotten rid of 7 if i knew all this crap.
