Republican Senator John McCain said on Sunday the United States could only improve its relations with Russia by taking a tough stance with President Putin, calling for stronger sanctions against Moscow.
On a tour of the Baltic states, Ukraine and Georgia, McCain and other senators assured the former Soviet-dominated countries that the United States would support them, despite President-elect Donald Trump's praise of Putin and expressions of doubts about NATO.
"We will strongly urge our colleagues toward more meaningful and stronger sanctions against Russia because of their attack on the United States of America," McCain told reporters in Georgia's capital Tbilisi.
"I believe that we must continue to improve our relations and to understand that Vladimir Putin - unless we stand up to him - will continue his aggression and we must stand up to Vladimir Putin," McCain said.

The U.S. needs to stand up to McCain and Graham. Where were they when the Russians were supposedly hacking? Why do they only speak of it after the election when Russia was being accused.
They are afraid of Trump and we need to find out why. Maybe they cover their tracks by all this noise. Maybe they facilitated the hacking but they thought Hillary was going to have a different opponent.
And Herself, Madame Benghazi, the Cold & Joyless, would have been a better choice for “standing up” to Vladimir Putin?
Now I understand that Senator McCain (and to a lesser degree, Senator Lindsey Graham) would have a personal beef with Donald J. Trump, as there have been some harsh words exchanged. But these personal differences have nothing to do with how Trump would engage with Putin.
Trump and Putin have a very healthy respect for each other, and would engage as relative equals. Trump is not going to automatically cave to Putin on ANYTHING, likewise Putin would stand on firm ground when the national interest of Russia comes up.
Yo! Loose lips McCain, telegraph much?
Way back in the 90s, McCain appeared at a local event, and even then he sounded like an intemperate fool.
I’m beginning to think that they had something to do with the hacking themselves and they are throwing up smokescreens.
They are afraid of being exposed for arming and funding ISIS.
“... and bow to Xi Jinping!”
Russia is looking to distance itself from China. We can help- and profit by doing so.
McCain gets more Manchurian Candidate every day, and so does the media.
No one’s listening, Gramps.
Must be the dry heat..?
Someone needs to check their stock portfolios.
Just Reelected he will die in Office
I am reading on Twitter that there is proof that ( Mc Cain's Buddies Ukraine's malware is the culprit of the hacking of the DNC . )
That Soros and Ukraine oligarchs are pushing for a US attack on Russia
“The reason McCain hates Putin is because Russian leader is smarter than him,...”

MOST people are smarter than Annapolis Navy Academy “bottom dweller” (790th of 795 in his class) McStain.
First the United States of America needs to stand up in the same way to John McCain.
I think these nimrods are wholly owned by China, Inc. and are simply doing their jobs spreading Chinese disinformation.
As long as everyone is focused on Russia and the middle east, China can do what it wants.
I prefer people who weren’t captured. At least in this case.

Problem is that McCain is right about Russia. Obama is wrong about the hacking, though.
That is true.
McCain is pissed that Putin check mated his butt in Syria.
‘Bama...he only has one ball;
Kerry, has two but rather small;
McCain’s are withered and lame;
And Ryan has no balls at all.
