An angel wouldn't be able to keep order in places like Syria, Libya, or Iraq. There are three choices for countries like this: brutal but secular strongmen dictators, complete anarchy and tribal/sectarian war, or rule by Islamist theocrats. Obama rejected the first option and never could decide whether option 2 or 3 was preferable, so he gave the rebels enough support to destabilize things but not enough to win. McCain and Graham seem to like option 3.
Of course, when selling option 2 or 3, these guys pull the wool over people's eyes. They bring in some Ivy League educated, well-spoken, mild-mannered, and well-dressed Arab who hasn't set foot in his home country for years, and assure us that people like him will be running things if only the strongman is overthrown. In reality, such a posterboy's throat would be the first to cut by the rebels he's supposed to "lead."
