(Liberals) Taking a long road trip to look for Trump’s America (and they find it!)
Boston Globe ^ | 1/7/16 | Farragher

And that’s why I am here along the banks of the Allegheny River, talking to Hromadik and others like him. I have cowered under the covers long enough. Denial does no one any good. Donald Trump is going to put his left hand on the Bible in a couple weeks and repeat the oath of office administered by Chief Justice John Roberts.

I do not live in Donald Trump’s America, but I aim to learn from those who do. I’ve rented a sturdy car. I’ve enlisted a wingman with serious driving chops. And I’ve pointed myself west to the land Trump found so fertile and tilled with such skill and in a rough-shod style all his own.

Living in Arizona I have watched construction companies that were generations old go out of business because they couldn’t compete against the contractors that had no problem hiring illegals they paid under the table (if they paid at all) and nobody did a thing to stop it.

I’ve watched the plight of the miners and steel workers in West Virginia, Ohio and Pittsburg and the auto workers in Detroit. Yes, the unions brought a lot of it on and I hope people are smart enough to remember that but nobody seemed to understand that the US consumer could only consume if they were employed.

Eventually a service economy will have no one to provide services for.

I think least least one liberal writer has already done this. Not sure if they went in a “sturdy car” driven by someone with “chops.” Seems it was solo in a Prius.....

The reality is liberals make farm-to-table jaunts into the US jungles monthly, they just hire someone to guard against a native popping up in the periphery. They’ve all embarked on perilous holy-grail BBQ safari, where they gush about the quaint (future Trump-voting) ‘Cue mongers like they were from another century. They’ve made half their incomes caricaturizing that America.

He could write a book but instead of “Black Like Me”, he could title it “Hick Like Me.” It would be a best seller in the northeast urban areas.

LOL!! That's even better than what I was thinking: some anthropological treatise about studying the Blue Collar White Male in his natural habitat: something called the Boh-Ling Ali (or so he remembered from the movie Pleasantville.)

Liberals eating their “Breakfast in America”

“So you think you’re a Romeo
playing a part in a picture-show
Take the long way home
Take the long way home

Cos you’re the joke of the neighborhood
Why should you care if you’re feeling good
Take the long way home
Take the long way home”

These people are completely out of touch with the rest of America, so insular is the little bubble they live in. They look at regular Americans the way Jane Goodall looks at gorillas. But it doesn’t go the other way. It is possible to live your entire life without ever encountering a conservative thought or idea, in places like New York or Santa Monica. They live, work with, watch, listen to, only people they agree with, and they think that what they see is America. But conservatives can’t avoid the Left. It permeates the whole culture, music, movies, TV, and education from K through graduate school. So we know them, but they don’t know us. You see it on any message board where liberals post - their interpretation of conservative views are a caricature through a fun house mirror.

Perfectly put. I reposted your entire post because it's exactly the situation. I've tried to explain this to liberals I work with, but they just cock their heads to the side like spaniels, and when I stop talking, they pick up whatever they were saying before and continue on as if they didn't understand anything I just said, so might as well just pretend I just sneezed or something.

That’s because zero has protected liberals from the necessary mugging by reality for 8 years. They’ll not survive the extreme hive-reduction about to commence... back to the basements and adderal they go.

“He rented a car.....and hired a driver. He is.”

He probably doesn’t have a driver’s licence and takes public transportation everywhere, or maybe Uber. He would never own a car, because it’s bad for the planet.

Heh. I remember all them whining and moaning all through the Bush administration about how depressed they were and what their shrink said and their medication... pathetic creatures. Unworthy to live in this country.

a man whose every Cabinet appointment seems like a middle finger fiercely extended to the non-adherents he calls enemies.

Trump never referred to his non voters as “enemies”, Hillary did.

Very well stated.

This is where the battle should be fought.

These Liberals aren’t stupid, just ignorant. Some willfully soo, and others that are perfectly happy to manipulate the mass of self indulgent fools for political gains.

Peer pressure and Political Correctness are the tools they use at every level. They have successfully convinced a huge segment of our population to distrust their own foundations of belief in favor of no foundation at all.

We are in an age where the “Embrace of Uncertainty” is held up as a virtue while certainty is attacked as being Judgemental.

God help us all.

And to further the hive analogy, if you detach and move half the hive, without adding a Queen (The State/HRC), the queenless are dead within a week. The Left doesn’t understand that the graft money that has grown their hive has been pared by at least half already. They just haven’t felt the effects yet, it’ll be a few more months.

“...Long Island... simple hour long train ride...”

Exactly!! We the People live one or two zip codes over from the isolated “self-proclaimed-self-deluded-we-are-your-betters-Ivy-League-educated” gated or doorman guarded enclaves in the super zip codes.

We are your neighbors Mr. Boston lawyer - we are not all red necks from Appalachia or the hinterlands as you imply in your article; your ilk are the ones who are actually in the metaphorical Ivy league - Hollywood ghetto - and we the people are sick of your snark!

Jane Goodall wanted to learn and really understand chimpanzees. Leftists do not want to understand conservatives. They want to annihilate us. (Dian Fossey was the gorilla researcher, but I understood your point, which was excellent.)
