Outgoing White House staff and President Obama-appointees are struggling to find new work after Donald Trump and Republicans generally swept into office last November.
Thousands of Obama loyalists are struggling to find work in a city now dominated by the GOP, according to a report from Politico. “It feels like there are just thousands of us trying to find a job, and there are no jobs,” Mira Patel, a longtime Clinton aide told Politico.
Democratic operatives and Obama staffers no longer have the more than 4,000 presidential appointed jobs to transition to after President-elect Trump takes office.
Politico describes how a generation of young operatives from the Hillary Clinton campaign and failed down-ballot races are still managing their “shock and grief” from Clinton’s loss.

Their comments are crazy aren’t they? They sound as if they are somehow entitled to some cushy job in government or some political operative type position.
No jobs? There are jobs available, but they aren’t jobs in the political arena.
These people are funny with their complaints. No jobs indeed. They might have to move out if Washington and get a real job in the private sector somewhere.........

Aren’t most government STEM positions being filled by contractors? I was an IT contractor for the Census Bureau a few years back. there were government employees, but they never really touched anything.

They can’t find cushy jobs that pay $200K and have expense accounts, car allowance, 4 weeks vacation, etc. They don’t want private sector jobs in which they will actually have to show up on time and be a regular worker.
i read this morning that there are in excess of 20 million federal gub mint employees.

Nonsense, the 0bama job market is in great shape! Never been better, or at least so we have been told with tedious repetition by the media for the last several years. Anyone who disagrees is just racist.
These are young political staffers who apparently assumed that their party's ascendancy was a never-ending ticket to the stars, settling into a comfortable place at the trough in their 20's and now in their early 30's with no salable skills. The Trump construction boom will generate a need for people who can build concrete forms and lay rebar, to be sure, but that tends not to pull in the sort of income that a graduate from Smith with a degree in Grievance Studies has come to expect.
The stratospheric fall from political grace into the embrace of the middle class must seem like something out of Dante to these unfortunate creatures, but I assure them there are plenty of "shovel-ready" jobs out here. Or so they were telling us.

Perhaps there are some “shovel ready” jobs in government stockyard bull pens. They have experience, after all.
