WaPO Rewrites General Fired at Midnight Story Without Acknowledgement!

This WaPo story ( https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety/commanding-general-of-dc-national-guard-to-be-removed-from-post/2017/01/13/725a0438-d99e-11e6-b8b2-cb5164beba6b_story.html ) has been completely rewritten since it was originally posted this morning, with no notice of the rewrite!

The original FR post uses the WaybackMachine link from 1:55pm and the above is the link for the current 5:23pm version, which CURRENTLY does not acknowledge the rewrite.

(Unfortunately, the WaybackMachine has not captured anything after 1:55pm, so WaPo could subsequently add a rewrite disclaimer. However, I captured the 5:23pm version and put it in a .mht file which can be downloaded at: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_hrA7ihzIPlX3JFTC1HMUVtRW8/view?usp=sharing

The original story mentioned ONLY the memo it supposedly “obtained” and said NOTHING at all about standard letters of resignation, nor did it quote anonymous “military” officials, AND it said it had received no comment at all from the Trump people (or the military for that matter). The original article implied there may be some kind of craziness behind the change based solely on this secret memo they had, strongly making people think that Trump fired this guy in midstream.

Hundreds, perhaps thousands of other outlets then wrote articles based on the original version of the WaPo article, some even headlining “Trump fires general in midstream”. None of these hastily written derivative articles have noted the secret WaPo retractions.

However, within hours of the original article, WaPo completely rewrote the article and completely reoriented the focus and meaning of the article but did NOT acknowledge the rewrite!

This is what WaPo did with their original "Russians hacked the power grid" article: rushing out sensational BS garbage without doing any confirmation research, getting caught, and then having to make a "note", but the damage was already done because thousands of other media outlets replicated the original story.

Except in this case, WaPo simply rewrote the original story without even noting the rewrite!

We gotta get this to Tucker and Hannity!

this kind of “journalism” makes fake news look good!

He will be leaving his post, but he’s not being removed per se.

He serves at the pleasure of Obama by appointment, and Trump is not going to renew his appointment.

His post ends at the end of the Obama administration, so this isn’t new to the guy.

He knew there was a chance he wouldn’t be re-upped here.

Trump is not re-upping his appointment.

He doesn’t have to have a cause.

This is a big fat nothing burger.

Next the Washington Post will be reporting things like this.

Breaking...

Trump aid stops at fast food drive through, and doesn’t officially order the food to go. He then pays and drives off. Film at eleven...

Breaking...

Trump recently wore regular shoes out in the rain. This reckless behavior exposed him to danger, and the Secret Service was left hanging unable to do anything about it.

More on this later...

He is 65 and that is mandatory retirement age, or close to it I think.

The new story says it was the army that pushed for his immediate removal:

Two military officials with knowledge of the situation said the Trump team decided to accept the resignation. A person close to the transition said transition officials wanted to keep Schwartz in the job for continuity, but the Army pushed to replace him.

Thanks for the mention. He’s also been there since 2008, so he’s had a fairly long run there. As I understand it they like to move generals around about every three years.

(Just going by what I read on the forum earlier today.)

There is a major difference between the National Guard and those on active duty or in the reserves.

All members of the National Guard serve at the discretion of their commander. A member of the Guard can be removed on a moments notice.

I’m retired NG so I know.

Thank you.

Evidently the general in charge in the District of Columbia is the only one appointed by the president. That’s an interesting bit of information to me.

I was going back and forth on everything from “Trump fired him!” to “The guy told Obama to fire him because he didn’t want to work under Trump”

Overthinking it, I guess.

While other guard units report to the various governors, the DC unit reports to the President. Only Obama could fire him. If the Trump team wanted him to remain, and he was forced out mid day, that is not good.

We know that Soros, Bill Ayers, BLM, and others are talking about and planning city wide violence and riots, so this firing/resignation could be a signal for a stand down just like they did in Baltimore.

Put this with them continuing to push the Russian Puppet meme and now the gang of 8 is going to be investigating DJT ties with Russia, and idiots on the left calling for martial law- this is not good. Beware the Continuity of Government plans.

I’m thinking that we might need some keyboard warriors to flood twitter immediately that we ain’t buying what they are selling. I am so glad the bikers and others are going to DC.

What do you Army types think of this guy? Is he just some obscure military bureaucrat, or are there any reports on whether he is good or bad at his current job? Has anyone heard anything about him, or is kind of silly to think anyone may have heard about him?

I don’t know how that works in the Guard.

BTW: Didn’t mean to ignore your comments on the active duty vs national guard. I picked up on it.

You were probably addressing the movement of generals around, and the frequency variances.
