Jake Tapper had Rand Paul on to discuss his healthcare plan, but instead tried to bait Paul into condemning Trump because John Lewis is a civil rights icon.
Paul wisely said, I do appreciate what him being a civil rights icon. But I would also say that that doesnt make us immune from criticism or debate
I should be able to honestly disagree with him, and not have it all come back to, I have no appreciation for a civil rights icon because of this. And I think thats the part that I think is sometimes unfair in this.

“Oh yes he is!!!”
Quote the Media and GOPe.
When civil rights has been mentioned, I haven’t once in my life thought of John Lewis.
Amen. Black people can’t keep using what happened in the past as an excuse to slander whites today. Lewis started all this crap by calling Trump an illegitimate president, and Trump rightly went after him.
Lewis is as stupid as that other Georgia congressman who thinks that Guam is going to tip over if we add more Navy personnel. He’s the living proof that “there’s no fool like an old fool.”
Icon?
Drop the “i” and that would be more accurate.

“I dont see this president-elect as a legitimate president...I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected.”
John Lewis
Unsubstantiated accusations and defiance of the peaceful transition of power...and Trump’s the bad guy...because Lewis was in a march a lifetime ago?
Or put a different way, just because he was a civil rights leader in the past doesn’t allow him to fail minorities now.
I wonder how MLK would feel about one of his supporters using rhetoric that encourages violently thwarting the peaceful transfer of power.
Mr. Lewis, I’d love to see you move to Selma.
See and live for yourself what has become of Selma.
Maybe he doesn’t realize this but his statements are directed at the people who voted for Trump. He may think that we are not paying attention or offended but we are.
Why does anyone on our side appear with Jake Crapper?
He’s an ultra partisan liberal politician now - trying to use his past civil rights work as a cover to justify anything and everything he now says that is simply liberal partisan talking points - stereotyping people and casting them aside because they’re different than he is, smearing them and casting them as unworthy based on these stereotypes to push a partisan agenda with no basis in reality - in other words, he has become in some ways the very thing he used to fight against.
“He may think that we are not paying attention or offended but we are.”
In the last few weeks, the media and celebrity class have reverted back to Nov 7, 2016. They seem to believe that aliens from outer space (or Russians) voted for Trump, and that its completely acceptable to portray Trump as an illegitimate aberration...
...which is fine, because they’ll just keep losing elections.
That’s because democrats have historically been on the wrong side of civil rights every time. Without fail.
The past? In the past, democrats fought progress on civil rights st every opportunity.
The KKK? Southern democrats.
George Wallace? Democrats.
Segregationists? Democrats.
Freed the slaves? Republicans.
Sent troops to Little Rock? Republican.
There’s more, but you get the idea.

Get off the playground kids, the adults are back in charge.
That is true. A lot of folks have been hoodwinked on the subject too.
