I remember a Republican candidate named Donald Trump telling the audience at an MMSNBC town hall event in February 2016 that he was going to have the U.S. adopt a more "neutral" stance in the Middle East between Israel and the Palestinians. LOL.
I guess it helps to be all over the map on any given issue, so you can always say you "kept your word" to somebody.
