However, Brown then switched directions and praised President Trumps plan for $1 trillion in infrastructure spending.
He quoted Trump from his inaugural address, We will build new roads, and highways, and bridged and airport, and tunnels and railways all across our wonderful nation.
Brown proclaimed, And in this, we can all work together - here in Sacramento and in Washington as well. We have roads and tunnels and railroads and even a dam that the President could help us with. And that will create good-paying American jobs.
Departing from his prepared remarks, Brown then stated, I say, Amen to that, Brother! in reference to Trumps focus on new infrastructure.

Jerry Brown Praises Donald Trump: Amen to That, Brother on Infrastructure
It's hard to even know what to say.
Just wait until President Trump exposes Brown’s cost overruns on the current boondoggles and then hangs him on it.
Cheese + Trap = Brown in Agony
California needs a tunnel through the Grapevine.
Brown just wants his hands on federal dollars. The carrot. Let’s see Brown end sanctuary policies in the state first. End any support for illegal aliens. Help remove them, free up water and resources for US citizens. Then talk about infrastructure on Trump’s terms, not Brown’s.
Cut Calif. off from the firehose of Fed money spewing. Their climate/environment should make infrastructure have a much longer life than much of flyover country.
$800 billion dollars of “stimulus” should have fixed everything that needed fixing.
As long as California refuses to enforce immigration laws, they shouldn’t get a dime of this infrastructure money.
In fact Trump should cut off all federal funds.
Yes.
We need a lot of more roads.
And did Brown just say dam?
He did. That is incredible.
It’s been almost a religious conviction that no new dams will ever be built.
Trump should SKIP California entirely
California is a net donor of Fed taxes. They could stop making tax pmts to Fed Treasury.
Ah, the ol’ cheese trap...
We can build walls, illegal immigrant detention centers, increase the size of Guantanamo, etc.
Fine, then shut down the SF Federal Reserve. Let’s see how well the world’s 7th largest economy functions overnight funding facilities for the banks or access to the discount window.
Close the national parks and the interstate highways.
Cease all Coast Guard operations off the coast, and publicize this fact.
Stop all air traffic control operations in CA.
Cut off all SNAP, WIC, TANF, and Medicaid payments to the state.
Stop border enforcement, but enforce the border between CA and the rest of the US.
I’m not certain that Trump intends to finance this infrastructure work with “traditional” federal spending. There have been comments that alluded to a lot of this work being funded privately or with other sorts of incentives of some type. I’m curious to see what he proposes.
New roads, the better to bring more illegals in.
The state of CA doesn’t collect taxes and forward them to the IRS. Individuals and businesses do. They are not the recipient of federal dollars and won’t care if the federal fire hose of money is shut off.
Maybe a few will, but then there is the IRS and tax court where you are guilty until proven innocent and all your stuff is taken away in the meantime by Federal Marshals.
Not many businesses or individuals in CA are going to risk having all their assets frozen due to tax evasion over the principle of sanctuary policies.
There is a simple, good reason why liberal wackos will be praising Trump on various actions...their egos, nothing more or less...they just can’t afford to be caught on the wrong side of history...even if they hate Trump and his correct actions (and his actions, BTW, of course are the correct ones we the people want).
Me too. The railroads were built by private companies where the government just issued land grants and rights of way.
It would be interesting if the same were offered to consortiums of freight trucking companies to build highways dedicated to freight. It is big trucks that do most of the damage to highways and removing that traffic would greatly reduce maintenance costs on passenger-vehicle only highways.
There is also a huge amount of federal lands in the western states that desperately need waterworks and power brought to them. If land grants were issued, other consortiums of businesses might bring water and power along with housing and industry and farming. I am really surprised by how high real estate costs have become in existing cities rather than new cities springing up. Like with a house, it is cheaper to build from scratch in the boonies than it is to extensively renovate and expand within an old city. It seems like building new cities with up to date sewers, power, telecom, and water systems would be more attractive.
I can’t think of anything they have praised him about yet that they didn’t think involved SPENDING.
Not surprising that Moonbeam likes government spending boondoggles.
