The healthy school lunch program championed by former first lady Michelle Obama has had its fair share of criticism -- but with a new administration in place, the program could be rolled back.

A document released by the office of Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., called for repealing certain aspects of the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 – the legislation that helped put Michelle Obama’s hallmark program into law. The initiative is part of a broader plan released by Meadows titled, “First 100 Days: Rules, Regulations, and Executive Orders to Examine, Revoke and Issue.”

The document calls for the Trump administration to reverse nearly 200 rules and regulations, including the requirements of the 2010 law.

Get back to real lunches!!! I often sit with my boys at school—we make their lunches—and see the Michelle lunches other students are given, that they don’t eat, and that then goes into the garbage. Disgusting “food” and an incredible waste.

YAY! From what I read, kids are throwing out food that is inedible and then going hungry. Enough of an unelected person, with no nutrition experience, dictating to ALL the public schools what they must feed the children. ENOUGH!

YES. let’s get rid of the tons and tons of wasted “food” that the kids are just chucking into the garbage cans (filling large dumpsters) all across America

I believe a lot of the funds come from the Department of Defense budget. The amount of fruit and veggies that are thrown away would feed a city.

revoke all such rules, keep none. It is not in the Federal Government’s jurisdiction to have any say or input into schools. It is supposed to be up to each State how to deal with schools, school lunches, curriculum, and all such. End the entire department of education.

That slop masquerading as school lunches is fit for neither man nor beast. Bring back the stuff kids will eat. Looks like that so-called First ‘Lady’ will not be able to starve America’s school kids much longer.

All education should be privatized and property taxes completely eliminated. I don’t even want states or counties to run it.

I brown bagged it all through elementary in the 80s. Chips, PB&J, and apple juice.

I somehow managed not to die.

Why would money to fund kiddos school lunch program come from DOD budget? Can think of some humorous reasons but nothing that should seriously tie their budget to food.

Kids have survived for years on a PB&J sandwich, piece of fruit, a couple of cookies and milk for lunch with pizza on Friday. No reason for all this nonsense.

I would love to find out who the connection was to the White House who won the contracts for providing these gross lunches? Want to bet it was a pay to play scheme?
